Old Enough To Remember?

OK, I'm a bit surprised no comments.... on your older 70's-80's Hondas the cam bearing clearances were kinda intentionally sloppy on some models, e.g., CB750 and Magnas. So you used this little tool to push the cam to the top of the clearance, then take a feeler gauge reading......

Mine has only been used a couple of times. I see you can still get one from Partzilla for ~$60.

Have one downstairs in the toolbox,....had an '84 V65 Sabre.

A better solution I found was taking the heads off and lapping the cam holders on a granite plate with fine sandpaper until I got a uniform .002" clearance on the journals. Fair bit of work but I got a better result and I didn't have to use the tool.

What else am I gonna do?.........long winters in Canada!

Still have my Thimble Drone Prop Rod. My Dad tied a metal cable to a big pice of channel iron and attached to the car, it went around in circles till it ran out of fuel. The engineer across the street calculated the speed, using time and radius. If I remember he said 60mph, but maybe he wanted me to think is was a speed demon.
