Pictures please....My parents went on their honeymoon in a 55 Ford. Every time they stopped for gas the attendant would congratulate them. They were wondering if they really looked that obvious as newlyweds. When they got home they found note under the tag/gas door.
I still have the car.
Pictures please....
I remember more than a few times being at traffic lights and stop signs behind cars that had those gas caps down low behind the license plate. When they accelerated away from the intersection the gas would pour out of the gas filler and all over the road behind them because someone forgot to put the gas cap back on. If that happened now it would mobilize a full blown haz-mat crisis as someone with a cell phone would call it in, not to mention that the driver would have a stroke knowing how much money he just lost in spilled gas.I hated the ones with the gasoline filler caps under the rear license plate when I worked at the service station when I was a teen after school. Some idiot would come in with his car bashed in the rear and you'd have a hell of a time getting the plate lowered down to get the 50cent worth of gasoline in that he wanted
That'd be me. I admit when I was a teen I forgot a few . Today the malfunction indicators would light up if cap was left off.I remember more than a few times being at traffic lights and stop signs behind cars that had those gas caps down low behind the license plate. That is fascinating, and what a history behind it.... Just don´t look too close at the backseat. The car is still as my father left it in 2001. It has a 1973 tag on it. It’s buried in my garage as I can’t get rid of it. It needs a total restoration but is solid and all the parts are there as well as some new ones my father had collected.
I have always called it my retirement project. Things are looking better for that lately. It’s not particularly a valuable model and I can’t afford to be stupid with money so it has to be a sentimental thing. Hopefully more labor than money.
Same car. If the date on the pic is correct I was a month or so old when it was taken or developed. First car I ever rode in and first standard shift I ever drove around 10 or 12.
Parents dated in it, honeymooned in it I won’t speculate past there.
Anyway it’s high and dry and waiting on me.

And if you were a 'big spender' you got the rubber band powered propeller and the landing gear 'upgrade'!
Yeah, and I don't remember for sure, or at all for that matter, but wasn't the upgrade only a dime or something like that??And if you were a 'big spender' you got the rubber band powered propeller and the landing gear 'upgrade'!
Holy cow... For the hell of it I decided to do a Google search and it turns out you can still buy these. Obviously they're much more than a dime now... Lol
That sounds about right.Yeah, and I don't remember for sure, or at all for that matter, but wasn't the upgrade only a dime or something like that??
Remember? I helped my dad install one almost that large, along with a an outboard UHF converter and an antenna rotator, when we got our first color TV, an Olympic.
