Old Enough To Remember?

Do you remember what this is for?

So my story goes, this is the first store bought item I bought for myself when (guessing) I was 6 years old.
How did I get the money to buy a set of skates, in-between our 2 houses in Vancouver, we had a common concrete sidewalk, while I was out there, I found a $10 dollar bill. My story also goes that I think the drunken sailors (not sure if they were sailors) that lived in the basement suite next door where coming home from the bar and went to pull his keys out and the bill fell out in-between the houses.
Brought it in to show my mother and she thought I stole it, LOL.
She took me to the 5 and dime store and I purchased a set.
Brought them home and went for a spin on them down a paved hill and knock the wind out of me.
Never did that before in my life, what no breath, what's wrong with me.

Funny when you think about it. They couldnt possibly sell those nowadays for fear of liability. By todays standards, they are deathtraps, but we used to ride them with no helmets. Times sure have changed... lol

Mid 60,s had a weekend job with the local milko. Picked me up around 2am Sat. and Sun mornings .....off to the milk depot, loaded up the bottled milk into wire crates and deliver the milk in
glass bottles to the front doorsteps in our local area till about 6 or 7am.

During the week, up at 5am, rode the pushbike to the local train station where 2 bundles of newspapers were waiting for me. As the workers were heading for the train, I sold newspapers
till about 7.30 or 8am. Then off to school for around 9am.

On Saturdays we also had a fruit and vegie horse and cart with all local produce working our area. Always remembered the horses name : Monty: All us kids looked forward to seeing them.

Dont see this happening anymore.

You mean, “Sing along with Mitch Miller?” My dad hated that show, having to listen to my mom and my sister sing along.
