Looking Out From My Recliner In The Holler This Morning

My son lives in Louisville and his children were off school all week. It may go into next week as well. We had our biggest snow of the year yesterday in N IL, one inch! Unheard of as we enter the middle of January!

11" here in the Panhandle of Texas and wind so I40 was shut down to NM border for awhile and 87/64 toward Raton. Nice to have the shop to escape to so I don't have to watch the Game Show channel all day.
We got down to 20F Thursday night. Snow and rain alternated so even though we officially had 2-4 inches, the only hazard was ice on the streets. That's usually crash party time here in the Dallas/Ft Worth area but....not so bad this time, hope it's a sign of things to come relative to common sense. Sun all day today, most of the snow is gone. Haven't had an impressive snow for several years now....just one or two of these.

The out buildings are the shower house and 2 12x12 camp cabins for the campground. Not in the picture is a 24x32 pole barn workshop that is set up to do transmission repair. Or whatever i want to do.

This is also where i host snakestoc.

Snow Birds have flocked to the Tampa Bay Area adding to the congestion on the roads with their white hair and motorcycles. (Wait that sounds like me)

Although the weather is sunny with a high of 62.

I bet one of the Tom's is around this area somewhere, too.

Can you imagine...11" in Texas (Mophead), 7" in Tenn (Uncle Phil)....and only 1" in Illinois (Mondo) and 0" in Wisconsin (Kevin 56)? That makes no sense

I finally got the 15" of snow we received in 3 days off the driveway and got out for a 35-mile ride yesterday....woohoo.... Sure felt good to get out and ride again

That’s because most of the snow fell during the 1978-79 winter while I was living in Oswego, Illinois.

It was a cold winter, was up at Dawson Creek for my pre apprentice course (Auto mechanic) , the Pine pass had a spot where it had built up a snow drift so high you couldn't see the top of the snow. Plus, could barely see 10 feet ahead of me ,wind still blowing across the road with snow. That was definitely was one of my major Adventures in life. Talk about bringing back memories.

Dawson Creek as in "Mile 0 Of The Alcan"?

Our main roads are all clear, some secondary one are still 'sketchy'.
I was transferred from Charleston SC. for a "winter over" in Bath Maine winter of 1979-1980 had plenty of snow that didn't go away. What amazed me then was that the state and county roads were much clearer more clear than the interstate! perhaps it had to do with every-one driving pickups with snow plows.
