... email from Noraly ...

Dear Adventurer,

I hope you are enjoying nice Easter holidays!

As I’m sitting here in the South African sun, writing this email, I am just thinking about what a good decision it has been to move to South Africa. This country is truly special. I’ve travelled to over 80 countries in the last 15 years, but somehow, I feel connected to South Africa. I think it’s a mix of the people, the culture, the stunning nature and the incredible motorcycling that can be done here.

For one thing, I will always remember South Africa as the place where I did the most difficult, challenging riding so far on this journey: conquering Sani Pass. I wrote a blog post about how it was like to ride this and my tips if you want to attempt such terrain on your motorcycle. You’ll find the link to the new blog below in this email!

Ride safe and speak soon!

Lots of love,
Noraly

I'd have no clue and would have never considered Africa.

In a previous video a woman at a border crossing asks Noraly if she's alone and she says "Yes". The woman replies "Nice" or some thing similar.

In the latest video (?) a man asks Noraly the same thing and she replies "Yes" again. He says "WHY?" Then Noraly responds "Because I like it". Boom.
What border was she crossing? It seemed like she never went into Lesotho (she turned around) so what did they stamp on her passport? Did she ever leave SA?

I'm of the same feeling. She's a very WYSIWYG person. Open and honest without pretense... Something that makes us feel along for the ride and not watching a "presentation". I dunno. Maybe something more up close and personal... And the fact that she seems very comfortable in her own skin even when she says she's not.

She says "What beautiful country!" and I say "What a bad place to break down with no sign of anybody for KIL-O-METERS!" I admit to no small about of vicarious envy.

I think a BIG part of her appeal, is that she seems to be a genuinely happy person. Always smiling.
I wish I was more like that.

Wow when she took her hat off – the crowd went wild. That was an awesome moment. It reminded me of her visit to some historical site in Iran where everybody wanted to talk to her and a lot of people wanted a pic with her. Goes to show that even though you can see a lot more from a bike you still should get off of it from time to time. What a spirit she has.

There was one point where she's riding thru a pass and you see the steep drop on her right – and she's using the selfie-stick! I was clenching big time! Two weeks??

Agreed

Of course the wide angle lens tends to make the immediate scenery seem "closer" than it really is

Somehow, somewhere along the way I lost interest. Pretty sure it has to do with her forced transition from a woman on a mission, with a definite trajectory and destination in mind, to seemingly aimless wandering because she cannot stay in one place but cannot resume an epic journey with a definite endpoint.

Her videos are still first rate, and the drone work superb, but the "where will I go today just for entertainment" storyline has worn thin for me.
