Itchy Boots

Hmmm. I noticed something odd about myself when I watch Noraly's ride videos ... I'm constantly looking in her side mirrors, as if I'm riding < scratches head >
I watch her videos on my iPad. I have it gripped with both hands, when she goes around the corner my hands follow the movement...just like I was riding the bike too .... ;)

Am I the only one who pulls up Google Maps and tries to follow all of her route? I had a great time doing that for all of South America. The last out door shower I was in was a little more rustic than the one she got with the bridal suite.
I like following her but I use the map she publishes on her blog

You are not alone, Jim. I’ve always had another device open with Google Maps or Earth to follow along. Since the first episode. Every name place and road. Makes the ‘ride-along’ so much more enjoyable.

This and full face helmet and 30c is not "cool" at all
I thought I answered in my previous post ... I knew the answer because months ago she answered in a video why she wears it ... sorry my answer was so terse ...

Here's a quote from her website

ITCHY BOOTS TUBED SCARF 2021 EDITION
I never ride without one, as it protects my face from wind, dust and bugs. Will you also become an #itchybooter and wear this tubed scarf 2021 edition underneath your motorcycle helmet?

Me too Jim.

Yeah, I get it. However... if the visor is down it'll do the same task plus will protect the eyes too. I see it not only redundant but also uncomfortable.
Maybe in a cold weather it can become handy, dunno. Just MO.
Personally, on my modular helmet, I keep the visor up (open) as much as possible.

AAMOF, I keep the chinbar up as much as possible, until such time I need that margin of safety.

So, I can see the usefulness of a scarf, especially riding off paved roads - though I wouldn't wear one, cause my body's already ruined.

But of course, the question was, why does Noraly wear one : )

From the title of the video, I was concerned...a minor setback.
Then this post from her today on international women’s day
“ I don’t fear the unknown. I choose not to live my life in fear. It is by letting go of fear that you can truly be free.

I’ve lived, worked and traveled solo in more than 80 countries by now over the past 15 years.

I am an experienced traveler and am anything but naive. Still, I’m often being referred to as a ‘little blond girl’ that needs to be very careful and constantly warned for all the dangers out there, instead of as the fierce, experienced woman I know I am.

If I’d listened to every person that patronized me and told me I couldn’t or shouldn’t do something because I’m a woman, I wouldn’t have seen or experienced anything other than the place where I grew up.

We all die. But not everyone really lives.

Stay fierce Happy #internationalwomensday.”
Yes she is fierce....remember that mine episode?

A trick to attract views. All youtubers do it. More views more revenue. Need to be creative somehow.
Come to think of it, commercial youtuber is a fulltime job.

She might be the most subscribed Adventurer Rider on Youtube, with nearly 700,000 subscribers. There are probably others, Indians most likely whose videos aren't in English, with similarly high numbers, but offhand Noraly has the most I can think of. (Rosie Gabrielle has 532k and is Canadian, Kinga Tanajewska of On Her Bike has about 210k). And Noraly's videos have been viewed 89 million times.

I as well. And relieved when she explained the situation. But I don't recall her using a title I'd call clickbait from another YTer.

Anyway... A really great episode. The idea of slabbin' then just turning "off road" is pretty cool. The sound of her bike is really pleasant. I like the ST's engine and exhaust well enough but it's a little annoying after a few hours. I really like her "OH LOOK...!" observations.

This ep along with many eariler ones demonstrates how/why she uses a scarf/gaiter. First it keeps dirt dust and whatever out of the mouth and nose better than just a helmet with the visor down. It doesn't do anything for the eyes. Second it continues to do the same when she raises her visor. Since she's presenting in videos she needs to let us her face much of the time.

Just like in movies we see the stars not wearing an oxygen mask when you know they're absolutely required (Top Gun / Backdraft). In Fallout Cruise had a mask built for his HALO jump so his whole face showed. Haters said it was his ego. Maybe a little but otherwise we don't know it's the guy we paid to see doing the stunts. Cruise said it took 160 jumps for that scene.

No water? They have Coke but no water?
< sheesh >
That's actually common over there. When I first went to Tanzania, there were advertisements for Coke everywhere. The reason is that unless it is bottled water, you'll get sick by drinking the tap water.

That's actually why in the Bible you see references to where they drink wine. It isn't that they are a bunch of drunkards...but that was pre-Coke safe drinking fluid. And the wine would be pretty sad stuff by our standards. Just enough fermentation I suppose to kill the germs, but not enough to do much else.

Each Christmas, my wife and I buy each other something from the World Vision catalog. I always ask for some kind of donation to provide clean water to a village somewhere.

I was watching a podcast where one of the panel members makes frequent trips to Africa to help bring IT and water to a lot of the more rural areas. One of the practices is to bottle tap water in the common small bottles and lay them on corrugated metal in the sun for hours. This makes the water safe to drink. Eventually.

It sounds like Noraly's shop gets a ration of water at whatever the interval and they were finished/out until the next delivery.
