Here We Go Again - News From The Holler

The problem with the diet 'dejour' is that they generally promise they will cure everything from ingrown toenails to cancer.
I appreciate the suggestion but I've already tried a similar vegetarian style diet and it did not fix anything except reduce my wallet and expand my waistline. ;)
The real problem is something a diet can never fix - our genetics.
My super high cholesterol has been proven to be a genetic issue (bunches of tests) and what I eat and drink and how much I exercise will have very little effect on it. But I don't clog from my high cholesterol (arteries are clean as the surgeons who have had a peak inside some of them tell me).
This issue is that an implanted medical device is generating blood clots despite me taking a high-powered anti-clot medicine.
And the doctors are completely confused by that little bit of physical evidence because it does not fit their 'standard' profile.
Pm sent.

Yes I have the inverted Y..they're all connected. I get them scanned yearly.. in fact i'm due for this year. I've had 2 motorcycle wrecks with these stents and i have been fortunate that everything has remained intact. It remains my biggest vulnerability and has had me second guess myself on 2 wheels but i have concluded that I am going to ride anyway because i still love it.
We all just have to keep those 5-way T's clean..

Here's wishing good health to everyone !

Just got back from the doctor and an long, interesting discussion. The next stop is a hematologist for genetic blood testing (thank you OkieRider) to try determine the 'why' as this is highly unusual. We have determined that I will postpone surgery until circulation in the leg lessens (if it does) or I can no longer deal with the pain. The good news is there is another vein in the left leg that can be used. Thanks for all of your prayers and now back to the regular scheduled programming ...

Hope that you get better Uncle Phil. But right now it is a waiting game to see if it get any worse. It doesn't sound like this will affect your riding..

Well, I try not to let any of my physical afflictions affect my riding, though I have been known to ride with a walking stick strapped to my ST1100  -

Well, I just got back from the hematologist who had 22 vials of blood drawn out of me for tests a few weeks ago. Some of you may find this unbelievable, but all the test results came back 'normal' (but remember he was checking my blood not my noggin. ;) ) So no one still has an answer why I am on the most up to date anti-clotting medicine and I am still tossing arterial clots. But at least it's not my genes (blue or otherwise).

Sucks that there aren't any answers yet. What's the game plan?
My plan is doing nothing 'medical' until I have answers. I don't want to even think about ripping that leg open again (been there, done that 2 times) with the prospect of clogging back up in 6 months. I plan on upping my amount of walking (from 3 miles a day to 4 miles a day and maybe to 5 miles a day) to see if that improves circulation in the leg. Going somewhere else for care is too expensive and too time consuming at this point and I'm not convinced would give me different answers. Most folks don't know that Steve Jobs (Mr. Apple) came to Nashville for his liver transplant when he could have went anywhere in the world. Our local medical care is really excellent but this one has them stumped for now.
