A Perfectly Stable ST1300 Overtaking A Semi

I do not believe the 65 mph speed limit for semi trucks is law in the USA and as of today there is no mandate for speed limiters. Mandated speed limiting devices have been talked about for years but as of this moment there is no mandate. As of a couple of months ago a mandatory speed limit was in the federal rule making process but nothing came of it. We couldn’t even agree on 60, 65, or 68 mph. The trucking lobby continues to bring significant evidence that speed differentials between vehicles doing 80 and 68 would increase accidents on interstate roads.

Texas also did away with one speed for cars and another speed for trucks. I heard it was about safety also.

I call BS! What is your source? I'm in the trucking industry and have never heard of this regulation. Some companies limit the speed of their trucks but the government does not.
Go back and read the rest of this thread. I corrected this way back in post # 42.

But there are pictures and charts he found online, so it must be correct :rofl1:
Until you’ve actually experienced a high speed death wobble, it’s all just repeated hearsay.
I had a Norton commando pitch me off well over a ton on a track.
No warning, until she started swaying side to side, slowing only made it worse, thought I could ride it out…boy was I wrong.
Tank slapper, long slide into a hay bale.
The commando roadster engine was removed from the frame, and the frame cut in half with a torch.
The prior owner complained about a spooky wobble at high speed.
New forks, stem, races, bearings, shocks, tires, and rims.
Thought that would have corrected any prior issues.
Nope, some frames just need to be cut in half.
Anyone foolish enough to call high speed handling issues a myth, has probably never experienced one.

You have been lucky enough to own one of most iconic British bike of all time and lucky enough again to survive it!
Yes, they were unpredictable and sometimes throwing piston through the gas tank.
But god, nothing on earth was even close to deliver such performances in this era and most people were just too afraid to push them over the limits!

I am wondering about your earlier comments on the thread saying that the instability was just a myth and later posting this Pan weave report.

It is not something specific to the ST1300. The weave applies to many bikes and always has. A myth it being specific to the ST1300 is what I meant.

It seems I’m being trolled and insulted by igofar again.. what a surprise.

To be fair and with all my respect, I don't see any insults anywhere, but a noteworthy example of a well-deserved criticism.
