Pictures of different ST police bikes?

Careful with the rain shields... they rubbed paint off my bike.

That's a shame, Joe. :( Mine don't quite touch the paint. A strip of clear self-adhesive protective film would be a sensible precaution, I guess.

Probably easy enough to just trim as well.. Maybe I'll go mess with those..

I'd like as not not go for these routinely but after the crud sprayed up onto my HG Vs and boots from the salty slush recently they look an ideal winter add-on. Cheers.

Why's the top box over the pillion seat: Physics or practicality, if you dont mind me asking?

Initially, I want to say "Probably to discourage passengers" but considering that motor officers run solo, it gives that appearance instead of looking like their touring the US. Not too mention it would bring the weight of the topbox contents more to the front reducing the light front wheel during heavy accelleration.

An interesting observation is that the green police ST does not appear to be an actual Polce version but rather a converted civilian ST. (Note the rear passenger seat under the rack)

I still like this green by the way :) although reservations conspicuity and all that. And what's that screen and is it useful?

Fairly certain for practicality. They were installed when we first got the bikes in 05. Our 09 replacements won't have them (Honda says HELL NO) and we selected a nice custom trunk yesterday to be installed instead of that useless rear faring box Honda puts on there.

The windscreen WAS nice. I went through it at motors school during some off road riding. The others that still have them love them. I'm not sure what brand they are.

This is a converted 2004 ST. We were the first US agency to use the ST1300 and there wasn't a P model yet. Our replacement bikes are all 2009 ST1300P.

Ya I recall these when they were new, wow what a set up! Love the green for King County... like your neck of the woods too. But settled for the home state to ride for a living.

Welcome to the forum and keep us posted pn the 09 progress...I got 3 @ a local dealer being prepped now. They will look strikingly simular to this as "borrowed" from my ACSO counterpart: http://www.flickr.com/photos/kolohe_ikaika/3364783685/ Yet...The way its going I suspect Spring 2010 before they hit the road. :censored

Well we have 4 bikes at South Bound Honda here in Lakewood. They're all torn apart waiting for paint. We're going back to our old darker green that we had on the Kaws. We should start taking delivery of them later this month. Our other 4 will be in the next month or so.

What sort of custom trunk? There are none made for the ST1300 over here, although I had one on both my 1100s, and very useful they were too. I often bemoan the fact that there isn't one of these available in the UK (and at a reasonable price).

The Corbin Smuggler looks very nice. Wouldn't work with the matrix tailpiece on UK bikes though.

I imagine the old radio pack covers could be adapted?

They are fibreglass, whereas the 1100 cowls were ABS and a bit easier to work with. I don't fancy trying to cut a clean line in fibreglass, I have no experience with it. I've simply obtained a second cowl and fitted a rack to it for a topbox (see pics), and can easily swap cowls according to needs. But it's ugly, and a lidded cowl like on the 1100 (also pictured) would be so much nicer!

Brewski - Western Australian Police do what?

Oh ya...I recall the first time I saw your units...I want to say off of 16...out around the Sound...in the middle of nowhere out pops two KZ'z from a roadside diner...THAT just about sold me on applying for King County.

Here is an oldish West Oz ST1100 Police bike,

Not many left now as most of the bikes have been sold off. Not a real good idea, only about 10 ST1300 left. (was good for me but, now have an ST1100P 2003 model)

A Gaggle of Coppers.

Here's a quick look at one of the new 09 bikes with the new trunk. I'll put some side-by-sides with the stock trunk when I can.

WHOA much nicer than before...looks very clean! The LED's in the position lights are always nice. Who makes the trunk? And are those mirrors mandatory by the S.O. or just a preference?
