SAD NEWS -
A little while back, I announced that I would be coming to the USA for the launch of my book “Free Ride” on the 3rd of June

. A lot of planning already happened, venues contacted and fun stuff arranged - but now, I am so disappointed to tell you that I won’t be able to come to the USA

. I have a valid, 10-year visa that I was planning to use, but the US immigration authorities are now reviewing social media activity for content deemed to undermine the US foreign policy. Visas are being stripped from people on a daily basis now and several europeans have been detained for weeks and then deported.
Given my recent travels and content in the Middle East and especially Yemen, I run the risk of having the same happening to me. I never thought I would say this, but it doesn’t feel safe to travel to the US right now. If you’ve followed me for a while, then you know, I don’t back down easily and don’t shy away from a little risk. But the risk of being detained and deported could mean a decade long ban on entering the US, and having “Deported from USA” in my passport could jeopardize visa applications for other countries too.
On top of that, so much work, effort and money goes into planning a booktour that having to cancel it one day prior because I’m detained at the border is just not an option.
I was looking forward to meeting so many of you in the US and I’m gutted it’s not going to happen now

I truly hope you still love reading my book and even though we can’t talk face to face - write me a message here once you’ve read it, I love to hear what you think of it. I poured my heart into this book
❤️
Pre-ordering is still possible! (Link in instagram bio or here: https://bit.ly/4dWBngt)
Thank you so much for all the support, I appreciate it very much!

Without intending to be political, the simple fact is the USA has to review and revise our immigration policies, due to the lack of attention to these very policies in a previous administration.
Further, Yemen itself has come into focus as a terrorist training ground.
Add to that her recent forays and travels through Iraq and Iran, the latter with which we already have stained relations, and there you have a recipe for an overabundance of caution.
I seriously doubt anyone in the current state department or the rest of the cabinet have ever heard of Noraly, much less watched any of her videos

After reading her full post on her FB page I was amazed and dishearten by the many negative comments about the US from the comment section. Sad that there is so much misunderstanding and down right nastiness from these people. But then again it is Social Media. What does one expect?

Only if they are Adventure Motorcycle enthusiast.

I really enjoyed her early adventures. After she left Norway, I pretty much quit watching her. It seemed like she took a wanderlust beginning and got addicted to finding the riskiest locations to travel to. Maybe to get more YT subscribers?

What did she expect after riding in Iraq Iran Saudia and Yemen?

This makes me wonder what she's been writing on social media that she has to worry about?

It only makes me less inclined to watch her videos again.

A question I posed in her FB comment section

Sad that there is so much misunderstanding and down right nastiness from these people.
That happens just all over the globe, and I'd assume it always was, yet maybe on a lesser level. We are seeing it more since the beginning of the social media.

In her first foray into Yemen she accounts her decisions to what areas were safe for her to explore. She was told not to go to North Yemen….anyway she’s been long gone out of that country. She was traveling with four people who were looking out for her, (a bodyguard, a guide and a driver, all of which were carrying weapons) getting through checkpoints, and making sure she was safe.
I’m sure she checks in with her own consulate to determine what countries she can travel to and to what end the Dutch government will step in on her behalf in the event she runs into trouble.
Her click bait is rather mild. When you read her book you will find out what her limitations are.
As I mentioned before, it’s “risk management”. I think we should leave it at that. I look forward to her episodes, I get to experience through her eyes places I will probably not get to see.

Not only that, but one need not be on social media to quickly see the vitriol about our American system, right here in our own country.
The American citizenry is harsher on each other, than the rest of the world combined.
At the same time, the lamestream media has their own motivations for fanning the flames and broadcasting the most outrageous demonstrations of human foolishness.
I don't have any qualms about travelling within my own country, while maintaining situational awareness as I always do.
And in all seriousness, I believe there are many mentally ill folks who are not being acknowledged or treated.

I think these days the USA's immigration policy is rather unpredictable, and what's written in policy manuals and in laws passed by Congress may not be the final word anymore.

Due to this uncertainty hanging in the air,
I can understand foreigners-- even white Europeans--wanting to stay away at this time.
