Itchy Boots

I do wonder, however, if she has to deal with hassling by guys.

I've been wondering about what she chooses to leave out of her videos. As relentlessly positive and upbeat as she is, I just can't believe that she's not had a few moments that would reduce others (such as me) to tears.

As far as production of her videos, how in the world does she ...

... find the time to download, review, edit, and synch music to the video? And on what equipment does she do it? I know she spends off days working on them but she must certainly also be working on them after just about every day's ride.

As far as production of her videos, how in the world does she control her drone while riding her bike?
Most drones have a feature that will track / follow the base station which is used to control the drone. That could be and more likely is her iPhone which is mounted on her motorbike.

Some drones have a follow me mode, it can be dealt with in a couple of ways, one is with the gps of the phone and the other is to select an object to follow by putting a virtual box around the subject and the drone will recognize it. Most drones have an app for the phone to facilitate the selection. You can also create way points, so the drone will fly to each way point whilst keeping the subject in the picture. Depending on the drone it can follow you up to 40km/h. In Canada we now have to acquire a type of pilots license for any drone over 275 grams. There are lots of rules governing the flying of them. She noted in one episode she wasn’t supposed to fly it in a National park.
There are other modes that make ones life easy. The journey mode, where it flies away from you at an angle and returns. An orbital mode, so it will pan around you in a circle. A helix mode much like a figure 8 path around an object.
I do enjoy her drone footage, she has mastered the technology rather well, as she’s been only flying it for the past few months.

So I have the answer to at least one of my questions: she said in her live stream that she usually stays two nights in a place: the night of the day she arrives, plus the following night. So she spends most of the off day doing the video editing.

If you go on her web site, https://www.itchyboots.com/ you can get a lot of info on her gear and there is an update map - looks like Spot Tracker?
She's got 3 GoPro 7s but normally seems to have her helmet cam and one she mounts on the handle bars or selfie stick and mostly keeps the 3rd as a spare. She is not filming all the time and is selective of what and when she shoots and does admit from time to time that she missed something. Although she does use the follow-me mode on her Mavic Air drone she did say that she sometimes just flies it with the controller on her tank bag. She also has a good point-and-shot still/video camera to use on her tripod. I am impressed that she is putting the videos out almost in real time, i.e. within a day of the travel.

Well, she hooked me. I’m an Itchy Boots ‘binge-er’. First time doing this ‘binge-ing’ thing.

Gutsy entertaining young lady. Seems to take everything in stride (at least what she shows us). Fascinating travel. Amazing roads (or lack of). Particularly in the Middle East and the ‘stan’ countries of Asia. Animals everywhere on the road. Elephants, camels, monkeys, horses, cattle, sheep…
The production value of her videos has been mentioned. ‘Super awesome’, in Noraly lingo. And has only been riding for a few years!

I’m up to Kazakhstan in season 1.
Previously got current in season 2.

That's the big thing that struck me as being the gutsiest move I've ever seen. :D There's many 'Whatever you do don't look down' where I'd look down and ride off the edge. :rofl1: And everybody riding among people cars and animals like you're walking through a mall.

I'm really enjoying her vids and have set a timer to keep from falling prey to the YT Time Suck. I wish we'd see more of her off-time seeing the sights instead of just the ride. But still- super awesome dude. Or dudette actually.

I've been hooked too. I'm glad a link to her adventures were posted. I haven't seen all of the of the past episodes, but I plan on following her from here on.

I have thought about pursuing trips like hers, but finances only permit me only a small sampling. I don't know how she does it, but good for her.

Those on the West Coast might get a chance to meet her, maybe an invite to a SToc event.... ;).
From what I read from her website she has made some choices, and no doubt, ones that weren’t easy to do. Today’s episode was a treat to watch, riding a horse. The GoPro camera tends to flatten out the heights, it looked like a tricky path she was traversing on horseback.
As evident in other links posted on this thread she’s not alone in her quest for adventure.... I like the way she documents the adventure..... who knows I might buy her an ST tank of 28 litres of fuel to help her continue on.

She has said a few times that she sold pretty much everything she owned, liquidated her retirement assets, and set off. She has alluded to some sort of compensation from YouTube for having over 100K followers, but does not go into detail. As a good Dutch person, she keeps the financial details private. She does say donations come in through both YouTube and other media channels but she does not aggressively and overtly solicit them.

I wouldn't put myself in the position she has chosen for herself, but we are different people with vastly different perceptions and tolerances of risk.

She should be coming up through the states sometime in the spring. I know I'll be sponsoring her a couple of tank fulls of gas. She's not making a lot on YouTube, but she is just so awesome to follow.

If you watch at least 30 seconds of the ads that are displayed on her videos you help her earnings. If you click on the skip ad before 30 seconds no revenue for the creator.

That good to know, thanks. I routinely "skip ad", but will think twice about it now.
