or has anyone used chinese stuff?,,,,,,,,,,,, here on aliexpress?
the rumour goes that its all made there anyway, like car brake pads all look like the cheapest put in branded boxes. i dont know for sure.
i do know honda dont make pads, just package them as honda too.

my pan is due a set (3) , but £144 from the dealer to fit myself is rich.

or has anyone got a model number alternative to fit.???

its a 2007 A6 st1300 uk 10,500mls on it. first set just due for change.

its due a fluid change too, DOT4 or 5??
a friend is lending me the wee machine to syphon it through.
he might help too.

thanks

Sorry, won't look at the link. And no, just because brake pads "look alike" doesn't mean they perform the same.
For the most part, you get what you pay for.

For my two ST's (and Gold Wing), OEM over anything else.

They may be made in the same factory but not necessarily to the same specification. Some aftermarket brake pads offer very good quality. Others, not so much. Using only one metric as an example I have never used cheap jobber brake pads on any vehicle that I have ever owned that provided anywhere near the same resistance to brake fade due to heat as OEM brake pads do. If you never ride in mountainous areas, never have to make repeated stops in succession, never have to make a panic stop after having just descended a long hill, etc. this is not an issue. However, can you control your riding environment sufficiently to never encounter any of those situations? When the consequences are serious price is not the only or the biggest driver of the decision for me.

Have a look at the WEMOTO website - I have just ordered Brenta pads for my ST1100 and used them on my FZR Yam for years. Worked fine and very reasonable price.

I would always use oem pads or at least EBC , I had used cheap pads before in previous bikes my GSX1400 and vfr vtec and I found sometimes the pad material can be that bit smaller and often cause brake rattle and even after a few hundred miles they had never seem to bite with what I was happy with on both occasion I took them out and purchased oem which in the end cost me more for my gamble , I actually due full set on my ST1300 and will go down the route of buying oem pricey I know but I'd rather spend the extra to have the right feel on the brakes than try those cheap brands again , plus if you can fit them yourself your saving there cause I do all my own maintenance and that saves you a few quid where I have friends that would pay garage to fit and supply unbranded brakes and often times the cost of that wouldn't be far of a set of oem

I see your based in Northern Ireland , I'm based in the south , try lee Honda in county cork there very good and price for parts and delivery is cheap and also quick give them a try you might save a little

I've used the OEM pads for nearly 140,000 miles; grip is more than adequate, in my opinion. As for brake fluid, DOT4 works fine, and is what the manual specifies. DOT5 is silicone, and isn't compatible with DOT 4 or 3 fluid. It requires the complete removal of all the fluid from the system ( a real job with the STs braking system.) I think that there are "better" fluids, but they're of no real value on our sport touring machines. Buy the house brand DOT4, and use a fresh unopened container.

i opted for ebc in the end, £64 delivered.
i still think its a rediculous price for bike pads.

and honda used to be same front and thicker back, now theyre same and shims on the rear.

FYI, EBC does make a thicker one for the rear. I iknow it's a little late now, but FA261/2HH is the part number. Amazon sells it here.

I have about 80k miles on the EBC (2nd set), I like them. Plenty of stopping power, strong feel of confidence, even when towing the trailer.

80k, waow. on 2 sets,, for a 12 year old and only 10½ k on it, i opted for a full brake refresh, i dont think its had work before.(to my knowledge, i bought it with 6½k on it, and the fella said all he done was 3 oil&filter changes in 9 yrs) back brakes were done, front werent even 50% worn, but i prefer matching, and they were already out.
iv only done 4k on it in 2½ yrs of ownership. and its getting its 3rd oil change.

for all the miles i do, i begrudge the cost, but safety/maintenance is most important.

it still has new protectant plastic on it. [emoji16][emoji16]

ill ask before i c&#k it up!
is there a sequence to bleeding combined brakes thats any different to regular brakes? ( 07 )
just keep sucking and keep it full.
"the displacement principle".
(if its full, just keep it full.)

ill be using a brand new vacuum bleeder, so it will be a good fit.
i'v pedal pumped and bled many cars, and vand in the past.
up to i semi retired, i usually threw the bike in the shop for anything and everything so its really the honda balance valves and weird bits that concern me. maybe im overthinking it.

First off, get yourself a Honda Service Manual for the ST1300.
It goes through the sequence that is used for bleeding the ST1300.
Others will post shortly on the ins and outs of bleeding the brakes.

Good shout on the ask Ken. Check out the Technicals on ST13's, Mr.Heath has written several books on the process. I've got a non abs 11 so I don't pretend to understand the process but check out the threads first it may prevent the throwing of said bleeder across the garage.
Upt'North.
