What would you replace the ST1300 with?

"I do have a stock saddle on my Blackbird and that's a real butt-burner."

All butts are not created equal.

My first- ever SS1K was on the XX stock seat. No issues.

Later I got a really nice used leather Corbin, but I rarely used it because I didn't want it to get rained on, or sun-faded.

Still love, love, love a nice stock Blackbird.

It's a Throttlemeister. Not sure if It's adjustable or not. I can always take it off and possibly replace whatever provides the friction to hold the throttle in place.

Yes, you CAN adjust the tensioner mechanism, but best done upon initial installation.
Otherwise, thake the bar weight off and go after it again.
Still one of the best friction locks ever made, IME.
Really helps my long rides because I sometimes will get a sharp pain under my right shoulder blade, and my right hand goes numb especially in cooler temps.
Some hate 'em, but I like both the look (can't tell except for the narrow red tape ring on the throttle side) and the functionality.

Really? You like the stock seat? Man, it has me squirming after an hour. Of course, at 67, all the fat that I used to have on my butt has relocated to other parts of my body.

My hat's off to you for doing an SS1K on the 'Bird. I don't think I could manage that and certainly not without mods to the windscreen, handlebars, footpegs, and seat.

Excellent. I just read up on these a little bit. Mine are the heavyweight ones. My grips are heated and I wonder if the previous owner accounted for that. My guess is "yes". I will play with it and see what I can do.

2017 Moto Guzzi MGX-21 Flying Fortes. Looks are very subjective but I love it. I'll probably purchase one within the next month or two.

04 Honda replace with 24 Suzuki. This year. Yep that is what it looks like.DL650XAM4_JWN_Right_2400x1500.png
That would be nice.. I liked my 650 V-Strom but always felt like it needed more power.. you really have to plan a pass... Coming from an ST and doing my first pass around a big truck I was like 'whoa!... I need to plan better' lol... I think that 800 should be a little better.

Because the Guzzis haven't updated their styling in 35 years...?

I kid.

Like some boxers, ya love it or ya hate it. (Unless, like me, you're ambivalent. )

That's 100% inaccurate an you know it Sadlsor! They've made a drastic change and huge strides by changing the color of the valve covers to red. Just saying. LOL!

I got a 2020 Africa Twin Adventure Sport ES with DCT last fall. I can't say it is a replacement because it is exactly different than the ST. I really like the DCT, I enjoy riding on dirt. It is great on the highway. More comfortable than I would have thought. Good range. Plenty fast and super fun to ride. However, the ST feels like a precision instrument in comparison.

My friend just replaced his Bandit 1200 with a 2012 ST1300 with only 7k miles. The ST and the GW ride well together. Of course the ST pulls away at the top end.

I've done the BT MOTO Flash upgrade for my '21 Wing Tour DCT and the ST won't pull away from it nearly as bad as the top end limiter has been deleted. The monster torque of that flat 6 cylinder engine pulls hard. It will hang with most anyone on an ST unless you are brave enough to push your 1300 to its limits. That 112mph limiter on the new GWs SUCKED. Oh, and the reflash smoothed out some of the throttle twichiness (sp?) Of sport mode.

I bought a Suzuki V-Strom 1000 to replace my old V-Strom 650, thinking that maybe the V-Strom 1000 could be a do-it-all bike that was 150lbs lighter and has enough power and versatility for me, and that I could maybe go down to 1 bike in the garage.

Nope.

I totally agree with your comment that the ST “feels like a precision instrument in comparison”. So I have no plans to do anything other than keep the ST1300.

I always wondered how those two bikes would compare. I've only spoken with one owner of the V-Strom 1000 and he really liked it. Of course, the best you know is the best you have.

I fine the new retuned engine good at passing. It NOT my R1200RT.
Suzuki has they say 70-74 Hp. It moves at highway speed very good

I bought my 2006 ST 1300 new in 08 and put 110,000 miles on it. Great bike. Sold it with a SMC issue to a fellow forum member in 2017

and bought a new 2018 FJR,. I put 38,400 miles on it. Another wonderful bike. Really appreciated the 6 speed trans, heated grips, cruise control and ABS that the ST 1300 didn't have.

In 2020 my wife decided she was done riding 2 up and I was down to doing mostly day rides. Being over 70 and a munchkin, I decided I didn't need 600 pounds and 150 hp for the riding I was doing and traded the FJR in on a 2021 Honda NC 750X DCT. I've put 49,000 miles on it. Dandy little bike and love the DCT trans.

Since 2013 I've also had 2 Honda CB 1100's I've put 84,500 miles on combined.

The Japanese make great motorcycles imo

I would have bought an NT 1100 DCT had Honda brought them to the states.
