What have you hit with your bike..??

I'm feeling better!
(actually, no, I'm not. feeling dizzy today for some reason)
Almost added another squirrel to the list on a run to Lufkin. On the twists of 323 it just decided to run the right direction so I missed it.

sounds like you need to aim better.....;-)

The front fender/bumper of the Subaru got pretty bent .... I hit from the side, just in front of the front tire when he pulled out in front of me.

the bike was totaled.

According to the doctor I have 8 broken ribs and a dislocated thumb. Apparently I flew like Superman but landed a bit wrong! I am healing fine and looking for another ST1300.

Ouch! You OK????

How did the bike and car fair??

Three years ago I was riding my Vulcan 1500 Classic somewhere in central Florida. Our group had stopped for a rest and I saw a pick up loaded with box springs and mattresses...pulling a trailer loaded with box springs and mattresses. I remember thinking things didn't look all that stable with how they were loaded.

Further down the road we round a bend and come to a narrow bridge. One lane of traffic in each direction. There was a steady line of oncoming traffic on the left & a cement bridge rail on the right. In our lane were 2 mattresses with a very narrow gap between them. No time to stop. The lead bike was able to get into the left lane, get around the mattress and get back in our lane before the traffic was even with us. I didn't have room to do anything. I thought I was done for. Somehow I was able to navigate the narrow gap between the two, just clipping the one on the left with my left floorboard. That actually moved the mattress enough so the riders behind me were able to make it safely through.

We stopped at a gas station about a half mile up the road so we could collect our nerves before continuing.

I have a precognition that seems to work most of the time. Years back, riding before daylight, I encountered a dark brown sofa across my lane, just beyond a little rise in a curve of the road. My headlights showed the road disappear and something told me to slow down. If I hadn't, I would have hit the sofa, rather than being able to pass it on the inside of the turn.
Don't you just love it when Bubba takes his furniture for a ride?

for a week on the way to work I had a sofa and some mattresses to dodge. The road is a bit rough and one of the smooth lines is right by the shoulder. These were hanging over that line, and you could not see them until almost upon them. A Coworker almost got them with his car as well. Either the County or the City picked them up rather quickly (fast as it was, I suspect the City of Mansfield was who did it)

nothing on my pan as yet but had a sea gull hit my right at about 70mph on my 1200gs i managed to stay on , just , it did bring tears to the eyes and my hand was sore for aweek .

I think my bike is going to hit the road today!! Sunny and going to be 50 degrees.

I hit the Dean of Students Bassett Hound with my X6, back in the early 70's. Didn't hurt the dog much, Student Health took care of my wounds, and the Dean paid for the repairs to my bike. He was very apologetic!

I commute, and have had too many near misses to count.

I hit something in the road one time, on my PC800. I was running late for work, and riding into the sun, going too fast. I saw a glint of sunlight off something metallic, as I hit it and caught what felt like two feet of air. I landed it hard enough to bottom out, but everything was fine. Woke me up though.

Later that year, while riding through town on the same PC800, a woman in a Town Car took a left turn in front of me. I stuck the bike right into the front fender, just ahead of the right front wheel. I hung on, ripping skin off my hands, but ended up landing on my feet. The bike was totaled; parts flew everywhere. It sucked.

In 2005, I was riding my '98 Shadow Aero 1100 at 75 mph down the interstate in heavy traffic during broad daylight, and a deer jumped directly in front of me. I cut the deer in half, got sprayed with deer guts and bike parts, but thankfully did not go down. The deer carcass crushed my right foot controls, and I took a chunk of wind deflector in my right arm, so I was not able to use either brake. The front wheel made a horrible whining sound, from the fender being crushed into it, and I thought it would lock up at any moment, sending me over the handlebars and to certain death. I squeezed the tank with my legs, held on with my good arm, and basically waited to die. Worst 20 seconds of my life, relived in my nightmares for years after the fact.
