What did you do with your ST1100/ST1300 today?

Replaced the oil seal on the shaft for the shift output today as it was weeping oil on the back of the engine. I also put it all back together after replacing the U-joint.

Tided up the wiring under the radio cowl. Had alot of extra cabling in there due to the siren controller being for a cager. Finally got around to trimming it down to size. Tomorrow, its replace the old battery with a new fangled one which is much more powerful and lighter to boot. Oh and yes I almost forgot, its time get the tire pressures back up to 42 psi.

Tire pressure question...I have been running mine at 32-35 psi. Is the consensus to run in the 40 range? Haven't seen much on here about this subject. Thanks for the input, as I'm always looking to improve on the ride stability.

That's too low. I think most people run 42PSI both front and back.
Look in your owners manual or get a Honda Service Manual.

I’ll put them at the recommended 42/42 psi. Thanks for the quick reply in this!

I washed my bike (2010) last night while riding home in the rain for my commute! I also took a bath at the same time, since I didn't have my raingear on! :doh1:

I should grab a video segment of me Lane Splitting in the rain...should be fun to watch! NOT!

Then to follow your lead, maybe I’ll post some escorting in the rain here in So Cal. I love rain, hate riding a bike in it.

I too have been getting my bike washed this week since it is sitting in my drive way in the rain. I do not ride in the rain in rush hour traffic. Google maps has lots of red circles everywhere so I would rather not have someone slide into my bike. So it is a good time to circulate some oil and molly in the neglected truck. Next week looks like all sunshine and dry clean roads.... I too love the rain, but on empty back roads....

80 mile round trip to Dammerells to pick up replacement shaft drive oil filler cap. Rain on the way up and a couple of light showers on the way home. Traffic fairly light and quite mild for the time of year. Thoroughly enjoyed it!

Well done. Like those new cameras. Now, if only you could keep that dang rain over in your neck of the woods. :)

I really like them also. Set and just let them do their thing. When I want, I can download to my phone and a real easy download to Youtube.

No way, I'm sending it all to you! :rofl1:

Very cool! The helmet mounted Sena Prism Tube WiFi i use (just got it) supposedly is able to upload and view while on the bike (via iPhone). The viewer allows for on bike adjustments of the camera angle. (Looks like SS needs to turn his cams 15-20* CCW as viewed).

Yeah, they do need a little adjustment, just haven't gotten to doing it yet!

I wouldn't lane split even if was legal here. There's no guarantee you wouldn't get pinched, or even hit from one side. Who would be legally liable?

My Moto is: if you don't feel comfortable doing it, by all means DON'T! But don't try to stop me from doing it.

I have lost count of how many NON-Californian Motorcyclists I have heard that think because it looks "scary" to them that they wouldn't do it even if it was legal! It's part of life in California! I have been riding for over 47 years and have been Lane Splitting ever since. I have over 600,000 miles riding motorcycles, most of it commuting on SoCal Freeways, which includes Lane Splitting some of the busiest freeways. I have NEVER HAD AN ACCIDENT Lane Splitting! In fact, I have only had one accident with another vehicle, 10 years ago when some Bozo decided he wanted my LANE (when I wasn't Lane Splitting)because he thought it was open! You want to tell me how dangerous it is?

As for liability, that depends on the accident, just like any other accident. One reason I like having the cameras on the bike!

But don't try to stop me from doing it.
I wouldn't. I'm pro-choice about most things.

Then there must be rules about it. What are they? What rules app;y to cars about bikes? Must they 'let' you go by?
(not rhetorical questions)

Larry, sorry but I'm scratchin my noggin here.
Lane splitting, filtering, is a way of life just about everywhere I can think of, in the EU it is the norm with one strange exemption Germany. In the UK 99.9% of riders do not sit in traffic, why would you. It is done in a calm, relaxed and safe manner as far as possible. I can honestly say I've never seen a motorcycle filtering accident in over 40 years of riding.
When you ride in France car and lorry drivers will not allow you to stay behind on any road, they will pull over, slow down, indicate the overtake/pass/filtering opportunity, in short it would be dangerous to stay behind.
You obviously have your views Larry, and if it works for you great but it would be a hell of a culture shock to ride over here.
Upt'North.

Allow me to re-state my opinion. I would follow you. I guess because it's illegal everywhere I've ridden, I've never had the option.
