What did you do with your ST1100/ST1300 today?

I'm starting to think it may be a good thing those of us up here in the Great White North don't get to ride during the winter. o_O The corrosion and rust I'm seeing on the bikes of our British contingent is downright scary, not to mention lots of work to prevent/repair.
I thought the yanks always kept a “beater” around for that!

I took STeve for the first ride of the season. A bit of a rough start as some gremlin got in and injected air into my clutch...got it bled out and we had a nice little run. Next weekend we're taking the ferry to go tour the beautiful Sunshine Coast

Disassembled, cleaned, lubed, and reassembled the turn signal assembly. Man, what a difference! It was starting to get sluggish and sticky. In cold weather, it would sometimes not stay blinking and I would have to hold it over. It's like new now.

Took a cool morning ride down to the Otay Mesa area of San Diego, adjacent to the Mexico border near Tijuana. Rode east on Rt. 905 about as far as one can go and had my first up-close look at Donovan State Prison and George Baily Detention Center. Best seen from a distance while passing by; don't think I'd want to spend any time at either facility. Stopped by South Bay Motorsports to take a look at the current two-wheeled offerings. Sat on a couple crotch rockets and a new Bonneville. Was glad to mount up for the ride home. Such visits make me very thankful I have my ST. Scooted back up I805/SR54/SR125 to home plate.

I did my 270,000 mile oil change today. The oil consumption is still running pretty good. Here’s the removed oil back into the 4 quart jug. Rotella T6 synthetic and I change every 10,000 miles. That’s about 3.7 quarts back in the jug.

Not asking everyone, just YOU. I use Rotella T6 as well, but what oil do you use in your final drive?

Nothing special. What ever I have had at the time. Super Tech Synthetic blend 75w90 from Walmart is currently on the shelf. No idea what the last bottle brand would have been. I think heavy oil is pretty much heavy oil when it comes to ring gear rear end lubrication. It doesn't get changed real often either, maybe every 50,000 to 75,000 miles.

Thanks, my ST is about to hit 99k, so I'll probably do it when it hits 100k.

I got off the beast after 7 days and 2100 miles through so. Cal, Joshua Tree, Prescott, the Grand Canyon, up 89a to St. George, Lake Isabella, then home to Livermore. Great run. Bad wind through the desert from Las Vegas to Bakersfield. The old ST ('98) ran great, but wondering what post-ride checks do folks do after a longish trip?238502238503

Rode the 03 to Easter dinner. 60 round trip.
Took the 06 off the Lift for a 10 mile test ride that became a 100 mile ride.
Put the 03 on the lift to defarkle it so I can refarkle it my way.
Most miles in one day this year. :)

You clutch fluid looks dark, go home and flush/bleed your clutch :rofl1:
Oh wait, I forgot, the Honda shop just put in that Root Beer Brown, Old looking, shelf life questionable fluid in it
Nice pictures, thanks for doing what you do :thumb:

Rode home 250 miles from my 4 day holiday in South Wales catching up with old friends. Beautiful weather and a good time had by all! The M4 was solid until the Severn Bridge and took 1 1/2 hours to do 40 miles. All clear after Bristol but traffic going the other way from the West Country Eastbound was at a standstill on the M5 most of the way from Exeter on due to the sheer volume of cars. If everyone rode a bike, there wouldn't be any traffic jams!! Bike never missed a beat all the time I was away.
