What did you do with your ST1100/ST1300 today?

Its' April 18th just north of Chicago. Went out looked at my bike looked at the snow said several unkind words about the weather and drove the cage. Maybe tomorrow : (

Yesterday it was in the mid 60's nice ride, rain today in the 40's but hey 82 tomorrow and sunny. Then rain cooler and 40's and 50's next week but kinda dry. If I wanted cold and wet I'd move to the northwest.

:eek:Joe, you what? Oh well, welcome to the world of computers! :(

After Bill and I spent three days worth of work on the 2004#2, I rode it in today to give a good shake out ride! It did great. Still a whiff of coolant, but it's not on the ground, so...

I'll probably ride it in tomorrow also, and then once Bill gets his permit from Nevada, I'll turn it over to him. :thumb:
Two years ago I did the water pump rebuild on my st, it’s a lot of work the front engine cover has to come off, but the real problem was the radiator cap was not letting the pressure off at 16 psi , I had the cap up to 28 lb and it still didn’t release at that point I didn’t want to go any higher.

Finally got my new rear tire put on this morning. Now I'm riding on a pair matched pair of T32s.

I also had the new rear drive cushions and aluminum inserts installed. It sure makes a difference.

And I made sure the mechanic used my Loctite paste, and not the blue Bel-Ray they normally use.

I finally received the socket head bolts and washers that I sourced through Fastenal. Got them mounted up and they look great. FWIW, the right side went on with no fuss. The left side, not so much. I had take a clamp and "pull" the inner frame rearward to line up the holes. Not a big deal once I used the clamp.

Oops, I didn't mean to quote that post. And MY post is regarding the tip over bars I got from Campbell.

Took my St1100 Pan African off roading through someone's nice large front yard. I was riding near East Troy WI Saturday as I was happily riding along into a nice rising curve. As I leaned over I felt a huge gust of wind as I was quickly pushed to the outside of the curve. I instant knew I was not going to make the curve. I saw the gravel shoulder and beyond that was a huge lush green soft yard in which to lay it down if needed. Not sure how but I got it upright pulled in the clutch and got about half a second of braking before going off roading. I am pretty sure I caught some air. For a big bike on grass at 50 plus mph it handled nice. I got it stopped by the driveway about 100 yards away. Checked my pants to make sure I didn't have an accident too. I took a deep breath and continued my ride. The wind only got worse. I want to thank all my instructors over the years for teaching me how to save my butt when needed. So for anyone who thinks the ST is not a dual sport bike it does a pretty good impersonation.

Got board and noticed that center stand is getting rusty, took a rotary tool with wire brush attachment cleaned up and sprayed it with some good ol' Rust-Oleum...

I looked into removing the center stand to paint it but did not want to dis-assemble 3/4th's of the bike so painted in place...:D

Picked up a new pair of shoes for Brego :)
I just received and put the same pair into my storage unit for the Red Mistress. She won't need them till after Rolling ROCKSTOC, but she'll need them for the fall tour.
I got her turned around in the shed, rode her out with relatively dry grass (that is not today's case) and took her for a chlly but satisfying 20 km. run to see if all the gears, the brakes, and horn and I still worked. I wanted to keep riding.

After reading many positive reviews, thought I would give them a try. As like you, they will serve a “later in the season” purpose; I’ll probably install them a few weeks before Rolling ROCKSTOC. With the Tupperware off and the terrible weather, I’m taking care of a few projects that I’ve been wanting to do for a while.
