The GWM Souo S2000: Chinese shots fired across Honda's bow

I saw this in a video this AM on YT- looks like a hybrid between a new GW and the Yamaha Venture- I’d love to try one but I wouldn’t buy it because of parts availability and an unknown manufacturer. I’d have some reliability concerns as well as dealer availability for service if it needed warranty service. I think it sells for $28K US it that might just be admission to the club, and as far as I know, it’s not coming to the US.

And for the smaller version:

I would love to throw a leg over this one. 600# Goldwing? I think there would be more of a market for that one versus the larger one. With only 60HP it would be somewhat anemic as a hot rod but sporting a V Twin engine maybe we could get it to sound like a Harley. Thinking 80/90 would be doable going down the slab. Top speed of maybe 100/110? The new Wings shut off at 112 so all that 1800cc is not allowed to perform past the nanny limiter.

If it comes here I would rename it Starship Enterprise.

Amen, I kind of think that everybody is building a good bike. Although the bragging about anybody's favorite motorcycle is a lot of fun. Just like the fact that my Ford is better than any Chevy or Dodge out there

Interesting............ You have to wonder how many Gold Wings were purchased, completely disassembled and reverse engineered here to yield a bike that is just a bit more, 8 cylinders vs. 6, 8 speed DCT vs. 7, etc......

Me myself I always thought the new Goldwing could be made lighter maybe 650 lbs and bit more of a sport touring chassis and a 1300cc flat 6. In my opinion if they made it many would come.

Yes, you tell em fellas. Chinesium rubbish. Who'd buy stuff from there :well1: .
Norton, Triumph and BSA got it right back in the 60's . No one's gonna buy Jap Crap made from soft cheese. I mean why would they, they'll keep buying our oil leaking 1940's designs :confused1:.
So yes, sign me up for an ostrich suit and a bucket of sand :scared2:.
:rofl1:.
I mean who ever heard of a 8 cylinder ICE vehicle being proposed, nonsense, it'll never happen. You show me a country that likes 8 cylinder engines and I'll eat my chapeau.
.

I can see someone wanting to delete the speed limiter. Regarding other options –– are these things to be deleted or adjusted and could you name a few? Thanks.
If you peruse the GW boards there are owners that have paid to have the speed limiter removed and the throttle response remapped. Apparently some feel the normal throttle response is sluggish and the sport more is twitchy. A good tuner can make significant changes to a computer controlled vehicle to make it more, lets say, personalized. The question is, do you want to pay for that or not.

I totally understand the attraction for a smooth, tempered and powerful 6 cylinders, but a 8 cylinders on a road bike!?

I remember saying the exact same thing standing in a Honda show room with my dad and brother looking at the new 1969 CB 750. I mean who needs 4 cylinders and 4 carburetors to mess with...and all those valves to adjust. I remember saying "They'll never sell any of those."

We were even further flabbergasted a few years later looking at the new 1975 Wing with 6 cylinders, a radiator, a drive shaft, 3 disc brakes, weighing over 600 pounds and the gas tank wasn't even a gas tank. They hid the kick starter in there. I mean c'mon," they'll never sell any of those" ....

and now you know why I never waste money buying lottery tickets. I'm a regular Nostradamos
