ST1100 Revitalization

Except the sensor, I don't see any different.do you think or know if it will fit on my 1100 without ABS? The idea is to just clean it and replace seals and bearings and keep as spare since mine is running out.
The only difference is the wheel sided cover providing the lug for the wheel sensor, and the plastic spacer/ring covering the gap towards the hub/wheel.
So in theory you could swap those parts, you just need some engine sealant for the aluminum cover and I'd replace the big oil seal around the ring gear output as well.
Due to the precise manufacturing of the Honda casings, the risk that this has any influence on the shimming seems minimal.
(...doing it by the book would mean a full overhaul with replacing all bearings and seals, getting a set of shims and do the stunt with Prussian blue to check/adjust the gear meshing/play...)

Here's a pic of the wheel... my wife ran over to the powdercoaters and used a cell...

Hard to tell about that groove for the oring. Did the rest of the part where the oring seals against the driven flange look ok?

i don't know. Courtney sent the photo to me. I haven't seen it since I dropped it off. I'll try to make it over the tonight. Going to see if she might be able to get a better pic.

The O-Ring groove seems OK as far as I can decypher, but the outer face (where the thrust washer faces the rim) seems to have some pitting... at least would the 'flaky' surface suggest so...

Looks like the 91 wheel, driven flange, & final drive are going to stay a matched set and go on Chris' 93. Life is good, Let's Ride!

There is something to be said for keeping driven components mated. I'll get with Bob today and see where he's at with the powdercoating.

Here is what we got done today. We installed the drive shaft & swing arm.

Temporarily set the final drive on the swing arm to line things up.

Installed new bearings in the front wheel. This went very well with the threaded rod & race drivers.

Checked the rims for burs and nicks getting it ready for the tire.

Hope to have more done this week and get it back together for the tech event next Saturday!

After seeing Gary Moons old ST1100 before and now is amazing! Gary and Chris and really doing some great work at rebuilding that STead. I can't wait to see the finished product.

It's going to look a little frankenstein-ish until I get the plastic painted, but while we had it apart, figured it'd be the best time to get the parts powder coated the color I want :)

More done today... I got all the caliper pistons cleaned up and was able to get the rear caliper mounted back on the swing arm. I used the back fill from the caliper to the master cylinder to fill the lines, then bled as normal.

New O-rings in place and moly paste where it needs it, & mounted the rear wheel.

Ready to put the new rear pads in place.

Hey Gary, are you still running the "George Catt combo"? How are they? That's what I'm leaning towards when I order new rubber.

Yes, that is what I am running on mine @ 42 psi front and rear. I have almost 7,600 miles on the set so far. Both still look like they have alot more miles left in them. I am very happy with them, & definately recommend them.

I am pretty sure that Chris has the same combo set on his.

Do you have a place to get them changed? If you need to we can change them here. Have them sent here, and ride on up and we'll change them for ya.

I plan on giving you a ring when the time is right! I am planning a trip around the Great Lakes in mid August so most likely will try to get the new shoes put on at the end of July or very first part of August. Thanks again for the offer.

Finished up the final drive alignment tonight, and rear pads in place.

Ready to put the exhaust back on and go to the front brakes tomorrow. Plan to finish it up Thursday and Friday.

Gary, can I suggest polishing the side plates and the stainless panel on the mufflers? Really sharpens up the look. A good clear coat on top will keep'em looking shiny. Youse guys are doing a great job, can hardly wait to see the finished product. Maybe get to see youse guys in person at Moonshne next month??

Thanks! I'm planning on riding to Moonshine with Harry early on Friday.
