Speed handle?

Assuming the knockoff you bought mirrored the stock lever in all pertinent measurements, what did you find to be the primary factor causing the premature wear?
You asked that just in time.
A better lever moved into the spares drawer as the knock off went in the scrap bin last night.

The brass that the adjuster mates with and the brass that mates with the push rod wore much faster than stock. The pivot bolt was ok.
The lever assembly was on the fair weather bike and lubricated when installed.

As I was handling the knockoff, the two main lever pieces flung apart.

The oem pieces ride on a one piece pivot bushing.

Turns out that the knock off uses one brass pivot bushing for each piece.
This makes assembly easier.

The two piece pivot bushing adds a little slop in alignment between these two main parts that are sprung against each other and accelerates wear on all the brass parts even if the material would be the same as oem.

Knockoff is shorter lever.
VFR lever is shorter than ST1300 through 2007.
I shaped the VFR lever for pinky finger comfort.
