Shopping for new boots

I'm looking for new boots as well. I have Alpinestars SMX-1 short boots I wear 90% of the time and SMX-6 boots for cooler weather spring and fall that I don't find to be too comfortable. Neither are waterproof.

Looking for something closer to the SMX-1 boot that is both waterproof and not too hot in summer.

I've had an unfortunate 'get off' or two and boots coming off have never been an issue.
But then I've got size 13 duck feet ... ;)
That's good to know. I guess it can go either way depending on what your legs are doing. I've had many get-offs, unfortunately, but was never wearing pull on boots in any of them. I'm only size 12.)

I have a pair of Alpinestar Belize Drystar boots. Highly recommend.
Nice boot. Looks like a shorter version of the Corazal that I like. That's more of the style I'm looking for, I can get a racier boot that would fit well with the Blackbird, but I can't see wearing that type of boot on the ST. I like the Toucan, too, but don't want to cough up north of $700 for a pair.

I had a pair of Red Wing lace up boots for many years, until I found out they didn't do very well in all-day rain, nor did they prevent me from dislocating my ankle in a get-off. Then I got a pair of Sidi's. Not sure of the model, but it looks like they don[t have that exact model anymore anyway. They did well for a number of years. The sole started to come loose, but I could glue it back on. Finally the sole got thin enough to need replacing. I decided to do it myself. Got some new soles and some shoe glue and wrapped them in elastic bandaging, but the soles came off on my first trial ride. Finally got them back on with Flex Glue and looks like they'll stay. However, during this time, a pair of another model of Sidi's came up one this list, just in my size:

Sidi Armada GORE-TEX™ Motorcycle Boots. They are more substantial with lug soles that took some getting used to and it's more difficult to get the pants legs over the tops, but they are my routine boots now, and work quite well.

I've had my On Road's resoled and have replaced the velcro on the closure straps numerous times. I cannot really get the velcro to stay on well. There's also an opening worn into the toe of one of the boots. Not a big deal, but the closure straps are a pain in the butt and even if they were like new, they would be fiddly.

I would like to stay with Sidi since it's what I know, but I'm not married to the brand. Hopefully, I can find something I like used at a good price. There is a very nice pair of 11.5 On Roads on ebay right now for a very good price. Rats. One size too small.

I have been using these boots since 2011 and they have covered around 80000km.
Still waterproof since then thanks to Gore-Tex. You can't get anything better in Europe, but it comes at a price. The one shown in the picture now costs around 450 dollars.

Do those run true to size?

TCX AIRTECH . . . battle tested several times.
Goretex and waterproof - I've walked through water several inches deep and no leakage.
Side zipper and full flap velcro easy to put on and take off - they absolutely stay on in a wreck!
Some exterior mesh allowing the exterior to cool and dry without letting moisture on into the boot.
Made in Romania (mine anyway).
Just did a quick check and they're readily available on numerous online sites.

YES . . . they're expensive! $300 range, but . . . they last. 160,000+ miles on this pair and still have many more miles to go.
Worth EVERY penny. "Dress for the wreck!"

most motorcycle boots have more protection. If your not worried about the protection think again. Go to 13:50 of this video, his boots had no protection, lost his foot.

The Daytona boots weren't on my radar, but ever since wizel mentioned them I've been checking them out. Man, those are nice boots. The Road Star GTX's are right up my alley and it looks like the protection is second to none.

Tourmaster Solution Air 2.0. They have been great. Very light, breathe well (not waterproof and I don't care) comfortable, and most importantly come in WIDE sizes. One of the very few manufacturers that make wide motorcycle boots. Priced right about $140.

That's a good-looking boot and the price is right. I could see myself wearing a pair of those on the Blackbird in the Texas heat.

This past summer I bought a pair of Daytona Road Star GTX boots. I don't have them even close to broken in or tested for rain, but I tend to be most comfortable in size 12. I originally went 45, but switched to 45 wide. I can run thick wool socks if cold, or I can run thin socks with a Super Feet blue insole. That probably doesn't help answer your question, but they seem to be high-quality and are comfortable. Daytona will also do resole/rebuild work on them, so I expect they'll be my last boot purchase.
