Helmets Quiet Helmet

What you might be forgetting is that $45 shipping is not what Shoei is charging me to prep or ship the package.

I'm not forgetting anything except I never talked about Shoei and $45 courier fee. You are on your own here.

I can top that. It's $5.90 for the pads for me, and $41.95 to ship to Canada by UPS (it's the only option they give)
I had the pads and a couple of replacement chin curtains in my cart until I saw the shipping!

Just go to a local upholstery shop. Buy a piece of scrap foam for a few bucks and fill in the space.

Shoei RF-SR looks good, called the Shoei RYD over here, you'd need to buy a dark visor though for sunny days, it's got a 5 star sharp helmet test score, it's light and supposed to be very quite. looks like a good helmet for the upright position of the ST.

Just had my helmet apart for a good clean and it makes me think what a rip off these helmets are when you look at how little there is to them, same as everything with bikes, total rip off, new bike prices are a rip off too especially over here in Ireland, rant over.

...... what a rip off these helmets are ......
I agree. I have never understood why I can purchase a snowmobile helmet that has all of the same ratings and certifications, has far and away better ventilation and better visors (even at -30 deg. C they don't fog and yet your head isn't cold) and yet they can be had for far less than a motorcycle helmet.

Well, looks like I am going to the snowmobile store.

I have been using a EXO-AT950 by Scorpion and it is very quite. I was concerned that the bill would grab air and jerk my head around, but it is very aerodynamically stable.

Check out the operation of the sun visor. Some are either all the way up, or all the way down. Others, like my Shoei, allow for incremental adjustments.

I am on my second Schuberth S2 Sport (which is a full face, not a flip-up) and it is the quietest helmet I have ever had. I also wear 3M foam ear plugs when doing long days.

Helmet comes with Pinlock, which is a bonus. As some discussed above the sun-visor is also fully adjustable (incremental). Other thing I noticed with this helmet is the amount of air movement you get across the top of your head and out the back when the vent is open, definitely a plus.
