Me more on the modern side: Pro-Ject Debut (special Classic edition in glossy piano lacquer) with glass platter, screw down record clamp, aux pre-amp, wall-mounted, etc...
Newest purchase is a Watson's record cleaner/washer... ;)

remember when the true stereo freak had a reel to reel

o_O you mean not everyone still has an AKAI reel to reel? Next you will try to tell me that they dont have a Garrad turntable! :well1:
(unfortunately I sold mine years ago)

Victor uprights are beautiful. When my mother died I found the 78´s that I listened to as a kid and remember the gramophone as a HMV 109, long vanished into history but I found one on Ebay, bought it and restored it. During which I found that I rather liked the topic and now I am proud owner of the big Steidinger from the black forest (went on to develop the dual electric-mechanic drive and changed the company name to "Dual") The HMV, of course and a Serinade from 1915.
Strange as it seems, but the cheap and at the time affordable gramophones built by music houses and instrument builders and sold in their thousands have stood the test of time much better than the high end, expensive and elaborate gramophones.
Yours seems to be made in Mahogani and quite expensive.

I had a Dual 1229 turntable w/ a Shure V15 Type III cartridge.

I never had a Garrard, but my best friend had a Zero 100.

I had an Akai 4000DS reel-to-reel. Lent it to someone and that was the last I saw of it.

However, if I can still remember, I must not be old enough.

remember when you got caught by the police with beer in the car and they would make you pour it out alongside the road so everyone could watch and honk. Them tell you to get your butt home to find your neighbors saw it happen and already told dad.
