NT1100 coming to the US, kind of

Dunno... that NT1100 handles a tad top heavy... hence likely more suitable for highway and escort service then urban pursuits...
I don't know how much all of that matters for motorcycle police officers at the end of the day insofar as the officers ability to get moving and catch someone in a pursuit be it on the highway or in city streets. Obviously the better the motorcycle is suited to the task the easier and more efficient it is for them to ride. However, based on the high level of training and resultant very high riding skill level that I have observed from the Quebec motorcycle police, I don't think that things like this have as huge an impact for these guys as we might think they do. As long as what they have is not a complete dog these guys can out ride all but the very best riders out there from what I have witnessed. Even then, those riders would still need to be on pretty quick motorcycles to out run them. They don't seem to have that much trouble catching those clowns on full bore sports bikes because, despite the power and handling disadvantage that they might have, they usually can out ride these guys without breaking a sweat so chasing them down isn't that difficult for them. I would assume that most motorcycle police officers have similarly high training and skill levels.

I think we make that out to be more than it is.

I had a 2008 Suzuki Burgman 400 scooter. It's hard to imagine having a lower center of gravity than that bike. I bought a 2011 Honda NT700V and had both for a time. I think it had a 5 gallon gas tank up high like "normal". CG was high on the bike, but surprisingly it was extremely well balanced. Coming to a stop at a traffic light, it felt more stable than the scooter did.

So I asked a friend who was a retired engineering professor at M.I.T. He compared it to balancing a pencil on your finger. Put the eraser down at the bottom, and it is virtually impossible to balance. Put the eraser at the top, and it's possible to balance the pencil.

My F800GT had the gas tank under the seat. It made for a nice low CG. Yet my F900XR with the gas tank up high, is easier to balance at a complete stop.

I'm still envious of that Hannigan fairing. The first time I saw one they were already near unobtainium. I tried to track on down but the only one I found was going for some ridiculous amount. I had a Rifle or National Cycle bikini windshield on mine. Then replaced it with somebody's bikini fairing that fit around the headlight and had a small windshield.

And the great thing about soft luggage:

Beauty eh?

It's really my favorite bike of all I ever owned with the Duc and GL1000 tied for second place.

Likely yes…for me at least.
A distinct possibility for me as well. But on Earth 2 where Honda reproduces that V65 exactly —I'd have one even if it stayed parked in the den and I sat on it going "Vrooom Vrooom!" while eating my oatmeal with my Official Honda Powersport bib.

I gave my son my GS 1100E Suzuki and bought a V65 Sabre as well, only being a munchkin, I found it extremely tall and top heavy and only kept it two years before selling it and moving on. It was a powerful beast or so it seemed at the time.
