So I have started a full refurb of my ST1100. IT won't be in depth as the other rebuild, as I know nothing about engine internals. However, all bearings and seals externally are being replaced as long as the coolant hoses and thermostat etc.

Most Items are cosmetic, such as powder coating to the wheels and all the frame parts, and repainting of all bodywork. There are videos to start with, and then a full write up when completed.

There are currently 2 videos in the playlist.

Thanks for the video. Looking forward to the full write up.

Thanks, Stuart. Looking forward to the “wrench-along.” Good luck!

Great Pics & Refurb. project !
Hope U know how it ALL goes
back together !! Good luck.
Enjoy the ride when done.
Were U the original owner??
How many miles ??

Bought a new '91, put 250,000 mi.
on it - & replaced it with new 07 ST1300.
NEVER had to do ANY work like this overhaul
on the 1100.
Just rode it w/ basic maintenance.
Very lucky.

No, I've had the bike for 4 years now. the bike is now on 120k. It started leaking oil from the clutch cover just after I got it, but was not too bad. I've just been doing the normal maintenance on her. It. then got to the point that oil was leaking from drive housing, and then I found the alternator leaking oil, and the swing arm starting to rot.

I've not got my baby honda cb350 on the road after a 6yr rebuild project, so I thought that seeing as the swing arm is off, I will do everything while I am there. I also have a complete set of spare bodywork from a later model that I am going to spray and use,

Nice going Stuart. I rebuilt the engine of my '91 ST1100 back in '07. I got all of my parts through Bikebandit. The 1st over-size pistons and rings were back-ordered for 6 weeks! I also learned a valuable lesson: I ordered the crank and rod big-end bearings thinking that each came as a set of two halves, THEY DON'T! When you order part #xxxx-xxxxxx, you get ONE half of the bearing set. Just a friendly FYI for anyone contemplating open-heart surgery on their STeed...
