Modern Motorcycles... and Technology

My wife used to have a Mazda 626. When I put new tires on it, I went into the shop to give the undercarriage a quick inspection.
The fuel tank cover had a huge Ford logo on it.

"""""Ford and Mazda had a significant partnership from 1974 to 2015, where Ford owned a substantial stake in Mazda, allowing for joint development and production of vehicles, but as of 2015, Ford has completely divested its ownership in Mazda, meaning they are now separate companies with no direct ownership ties; however, the legacy of their collaboration can still be seen in some shared design elements and platforms from their past partnership.""""

Today I read on another forum a thread about installing aftermarket cruise control on those bikes. Someone posted that they did not understand how you can add cruise control to a bike that's not radar equipped! They said without radar there would be no adaptive cruise and that is dangerous, I believe they said "not safe". I was shocked and horrified that I saw an example of people that actually think like that! I guess the future is here. In spite of all our grumbling and complaining it's happening and there is naught we can do about it and naught that it cares about us or our opinions.

At one of the Transmission shops I worked at we had a name for people like that " No Minds" really didn't know what they were talking about.

They would be terrified to hear that I take both hands off the handle bars some times.

What are the chances that they have never actually touched handlebars themselves?
Indeed... most folks who generalize me, my GF (or any rider for that matter) as "suicidal, organ donating, speed freaks with loud pipes" have never operated a powered two-wheeler in their entire life...

I had to go to the local Ford dealership to buy moulded mud flaps for my 2009 Mazda Tribute because Mazda didn't sell them. They had them in stock and, as expected, they fit perfectly because the Ford Escape was almost identical. I got a laugh out of the parts guy when I told him I needed Ford parts for my Mazda.

It's been going on for a long time.. makes business sense in most cases... how many vehicles have Mitsubishi parts lol.

The new Hybrid Mazda CX-50 actually has a Toyota hybrid engine from the Rav4 but most reviews say it's a better implementation.

How many vehicles are Mitsubishi... (like that 1st gen SMART fourfour being a disguised Mitsubishi Colt...)

There more vehicles with serious identity crisis around...
i.e. Mercedes Citan vs Toyota Proace vs Citroen Spacetourer vs Peugeot Traveller...
Drove my Toyota workshop crazy, cause the new "Climate Control Unit" delivered for a Proace, somehow came with a Mercedes firmware preinstalled, hence refused to get recognized by the ECU as well as the Toyota Europe Mothership somewhere up north in Germania while having that van online with them (as we know abso_f_ing_mandatory for just e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g. these days...)
