Mobil1 full synthetic automotive oil..will my clutch be okay?

High Performance Mineral 25w60 Oil - 3601-0774
Well, since our STs are all V-Fours, we will have to use twice as much.

I've read guys say they've used it but I'm afraid I'm going to mess up my clutch by using it. I just don't want to run this in my engine and end up making my clutch slip
I've heard that happens but I'm not sure if that's accurate with the full synthetic Mobil1.
Oil threads abound with no clear consensus as to which is best, but there are instances of clutch problems after switching oils. With this in mind, I would think it is pretty clear that if you have this concern, than you should look for a JASO certified oil, first and foremost. The peice of mind alone is worth the few extra dollars, if it in fact costs more. All the other factors are and always will be debatable. IMHO, the other factors (viscosity, blend, brand, etc.) will likely not cause any ill effects but the clutch issue is a real possibility.

You are correct in your question . In fact the opposite is true. T4 has a JASO rating T6 does not. At the PQIA site it lists chemical analysis. T6 (not JASO) has more of many additives with the exception being calcium which it has less. T4 has less of everything. but it will still protect your engine. file:///C:/Users/Fullers/Pictures/Petroleum%20Quality%20Institute%20of%20America.html Its interesting to look through
On the back of this jug of T6 it has the JASO MA/MA2 rating.

but what some will argue (read thru this thread) ... is
"it meets requirement of ..."
...but doesn't have the official certification
Or API SG or higher.

And now that they took most of the high ppm of zinc out of it it's not nearly the oil it was before the reformulation and loss of gas engine certification. Still cheap though and no one's had oil related problems with it.

Yet. The reformulation was just a couple years ago.

No no no. See that's why oil threads get so screwed up, people just make stuff up along the way. It is twice the viscosity so you only use half as much.

yeah, but to get twice the viscosity you have to pack twice as many oil molecules into the same volume. You pay for the same number of oil molecules either way, so the final cost is the same.

Has anyone wondered what happened to the OP Honda? Seems like he would let us know what he decided to do.:rofl1:.
Does it matter?

What I'd love, is if someone resurrected an old oil thread from 10 years ago, and some of the same people responded again. :D
