Mellow's Summer Trip

You should try and squeeze in the 14 up through Shell Canyon to Burgess Junction, then back down the 14a on your way to Chief Joseph and Bear Tooth.....

Thanks, I'm doing part of the 14a so I'll see where I can adjust things if I can... more routing, fun.

It's the 14 and 14a up into the Little Big Horns that's the fun part! Some of the longest, steepest HWY in the country! There's a big sign up at Burgess junction that basically tells you if you're here in a truck, you're screwed. :)

+1 on Adamk's recommendation of Highway 14A. Lots of twisties and great scenery. I rode it from Cody heading to Denver back in May and it was one of the highlights of the ride.

Am I right that you are heading Northwest to start? Give me a shout around the time you hit Amarillo. I'll buy you lunch, or dinner! I'm only about 20 minutes south of town.

I'll send you a PM on where we should be around lunch time on 9/1, it's a tight schedule but Amarillo should be about right for lunch time, no need to buy me lunch, just show up and say hi and that would be cool... PM on the way.

So how come Mellow gets all this ridin in? Joker needs to get a job.

I keep waiting for you to hire me as your personal assistant for $250k/year... but no one answers my calls.

You must think I'm a busy man??

You're ridin all over the country 4-5 times a year??? Must be nice.

I know you're not a busy man but you may be hallucinating a little, you should see someone about that.

LOL.. I supposed I could have started this on Friday instead... Gonna be a looooong week.

There were <30 messages when I found this thread, took a 1/2 hour to reach the bottom as messages flew in... :D

Joe, I usually wait 'til I'm on the road before posting,,, almost never post a route 'cause,,, I don't know where I'm going! :rofl1:

I'm out 'n about thru 9-8 so maybe we'll cross paths somewhere along yur route,,, I'll be watching.

One of my favorite routing techniques,,, when just meandering: come up on an intersection and think, "Hmmm, I wonder where that goes?"

Sounds good George. That would be cool. I will post updates while on the ride.

Joe, Looks like a great trip. Hope you have a fun, safe and memorable ride. Take a lot of pictures to share with the rest of us that are stuck at work.

Hey, that's a replica of the map of my country, wish you a safe trip. When i grow up, i see a V-strom or S-10 in my future, just doesn't know which.

Enjoy the ride, I rode to Madison in June and really enjoyed the backroads thru Wisc, Minn, Dakotas, Nebraska and Kansas. Ride safe.
