MCL Highway pegs for the ST1300 - New Source Query

I have these on my bike, so I don't need a set of them. I know the back story on the man and the company, and how since his death these parts have become essentially unobtainable. I know these are highly sought after components. I also realize there's someone else who started making something similar, but I've not heard much about them, or seen much evidence that they sold many of them. I was always of the opinion that they were too different and didn't work as good as the originals.

My question is this: if someone were to offer almost identically made and comparably priced high quality reproductions of the originals, do you think there's still a market for them? Do you want a set, would you buy them?

absolutely. I would love to have a set. Where do I get them? Getting my new to me 1300 tomorrow. Givi top case and Gen 3 riser are also on the "to do" order list.

I think the big issue is the cutting of the covers - for both the ST1300 and the ST1100.
Probably not a large market for them until the 'next' generation of ST owners comes around.
I'd buy a couple of sets for the ST1100 but they are bit of a different 'animal' in how they mount.

I think the OP is asking if there is any interest in blades made by someone OTHER THAN PSR, which might be closer in design to the MCL.

I would think the original MCL blades would be a better/stronger system, due to the way they clamp onto the crash bar in 2 separate places. Would keep the crash bars from wanting to spin on the bar with only the one mounting point as shown in the PSR video.... :-/

My PSR blade clamps have never moved since I installed them, and I even push against them to slide myself (6'3", 235 lbs) up the step in the seat when I have to straighten my legs.

If you are planning to manufacture something similar first check for patent rights of any of these manufacturers, and second make a set and post a pic of it.

No patents filed that I am aware as that discussion came up with the original Highway Wings which preceded the MCL wings (a rather unpleasant controversy best I remember). To patent something like this would raise the price far above what anyone would want to pay. The manufacturing company that I work for has investigated what it costs to patent a manufactured item, and it ain't cheap! ;)

these are not the same design the OP is talking about. I believe he is asking about the old MCL design and is there any interest.

I’d probably buy a set if the price was right. I’d like to mount highway pegs further forward to accommodate straightening my legs (I’m 6’2”).

There is an additional market for those of us that need replacements. The PSRs are not compatible or nearly as good as MCLs.

I would be interested in a set if there were a template for cutting the tip-over bar covers. I think I may even have a spare cover or two.

I have a set of never even opened MCL highway blades as well as the never opened cut covers direct from Honda. Not sure if I am going to install them yet or not. I've looked into manufacturing an equivalent item, but due to low demand it is cost prohibitive. I think I am going to make a few set of the covers, since I have a template.
