Itchy Boots

Lost her way in Bolivia... she needs a compass and a terrain map!!! Tech only goes so far, eh? Maybe use the drone to scout the rout?

Some drones only get about five minutes flying time - I suspect hers isn't extravagant, seeing as her drone shots are 15 seconds or less.

Assuming that's true, Noraly has a good range on the RE.
I'm glad to hear that. Prior to I had no idea. I just got a back feeling in my gut about being on a bike there and looking down at the fuel gauge and seeing 3 bars and not seeing civilization anywhere in the 360. Yikes! And following the – tracks? Oh my. And she can't radio for green smoke in the LZ.

When she was getting directions from those two guys and the caption read 'bla bla bla' I cracked up. I thought it might be Español for 'you can't get there from here but if you go down the road apiece...' At least they weren't 'Let's mess with the gringa's head'.

I stumbled across this today. Yes there are people that don't know Itchy Boots.... LOL anyway these guys fed her. Us Dutch people like to be fed. ;)

My viewpoint... she wasn't really lost as compared to confused - those are two different things.

I'd rather be confused, because you can stop and collect yourself, which I see happens in this video..

If you are lost, that's a completely different challenge ... that could have a negative outcome because of desperation

Daniels Boone was asked if he had ever been lost in the woods. He said "No, but I was a might bewildered for a few weeks one time."

Where did you see that she was unhappy with the comments? Link.

She has a pinned Comment on that video explaining the use of a compass (she has three) and map.

Obviously she's responding to folks suggesting she get a compass and terrain maps.

There's 1,200 Comments on that video and I'm NOT going to forage those replies. : )

I think she hit the nail(s) on the head with the comment she posted addressing the armchair critics who really have not been out there in the real world. What map was going to help when there were that many tracks all heading in the same general direction especially without a single signpost? Heck, my GPS has gotten me "lost". I think she dealt nicely with the suggestion to use her drone to find her way.

I think seeing her being upset by those comments is reading a lot into what she wrote and not just reading what she wrote.

She similarly addressed a comment about people telling her "DON'T SAY YOU'RE ALONE!!!" and to say her friend is coming right up behind. Any day now. As if they couldn't see for miles and miles and miles that there was nobody there. Her response (long sorry about that):

I think this way of thinking defines the difference between the people that stay at home and the people that go and see the world I find it fascinating that most viewers want me to interact with the locals, but when I do, I should treat them with suspicion, distrust and lie to them.. If you’ve watched all my videos, you’ll see that the question ‘are you alone’ is just as common as ‘where are you from’. It’s a question I get asked every single day. And as you can see, none of the people that asked me that meant any harm. Lying to them like you suggest stems from fear that people are out there to get you. I could never travel around the world if I would let myself being led by fear. It’s impossible to enjoy traveling if you have to fear every person on your path. And besides, I’m a terrible liar and don’t see anything good coming from making up stories about non-existing friends. Unfortunately, you can find yourself at the wrong place at the wrong time, but this can happen in your own country and home town too. For me, it’s no reason to stay at home and hide in the bathroom Just wanted to explain how I see these things, please don’t take offense..

The girl should be a diplomat as well as a goodwill ambassador. Now excuse me while I school her about riding like THEY'RE OUT TO KILL YOU!!1111!

I just drove for two days in major snowstorms and white out conditions, but that was a piece of cake compared to the trail/road Noraly rode through. Lots of challenges. She done good!

I really like how she refers to her bike by name (Dhanno). I tried to come up with a name for my bike (I thought "Stella" might do), but if just never stuck and I still say things like "I'm taking the bike out"

It is, after all, an inanimate object, but It's great how Noraly doesn't treat it as such.

I like bikes and especially older ones so I have the following bikes (all named because I can’t keep track of them by years and numbers):
2007 ST1300 - “Sylvia” - because she is silver
1976 Yamaha XS650C - “Lucille” because she is red and a bit of pain sometimes
1978 Yamaha XS650E - “Betty” - she had belonged to a friend who died suddenly at 62 and this is what he named her
1981 Yamaha XS650SH - “Demi” - she is becoming a Café bike with an XS750 fuel tank and a bum-stop seat.
Thus, she is a little bigger up-top than usual and a bit mysterious....so....Demi.

Nice ride with no traffic.
Noraly has a great attitude about the gas price rip off.
Not sure that I would consider it a rip off. In Europe a lot countries require you to buy and display a decal to use their highway system, this is kind of the same thing just using a different method to collect the revenue.

I saw the episode where she traded her first bike for the second and named it Dhanno. She said something that implied the why or that there was a why she named it Dhanno. Does anybody know what that was about?
