is Honda (and Japan in general) punishing us?

That also is not on American Powersports websites for the USA

Could it be price?
We appear to pay more, but I'm no expert on cross pond pricing.
The NT1100 Electronic Suspension for 2025 is about £14,000 OTR, which I think translates to $17,500. That's for panniers only, I'm guessing with a top box you'd be in it for way over $18,000.
Is that a price point that would be attractive to statesiders?
I'm guessing it would be cheaper anyway there, but like I said, I don't know.
There are no prices for the 2025 NC's yet.

I think motorcycle sales and prices will ebb and flow conversely with interest rates and employment numbers; when there's no easy jobs and money gets expensive, some models [CBX for example} go to sleep for a while, some times too long [CBX for example] to where the whole idea is supplanted with newer bikes.
This go round will be different; no more big bikes. This new generation is very malleable and predictable and they make everything worse, by being natural born subordinates.
They'll never want [at least in any significant proportion] a real motorcycle; as a product of the built world, they've been raised to obey and learn or should I say, conform.20221214_102638.jpg

Dream on...
NT1100 DCT ES: € 19,290,-
NT1100 DCT: € 17,390,-
NT1100: € 16,190,- (that's the NHS version...)
Topcase 08ESY-MLF-TBBZA: € 600,-
And if you're into Reynaers MasterWall:
Scratch kit panniers 08L80MKTD00: € 170,-
Scratch kit topcase 08L83MKTD00: € 75,-
Aux light kit 08ESYMLFFL22YM: € 550,-
comfort seat pillion 08R73MLFE00ZA: € 110,-
comfort seat rider 08R75MLFE00ZA: € 150,-
alternative:
urban accessory package 08HMEMLFURG: € 730,-
voyage accessory package 08HMEMLFVYG: € 1,720,-

Further you're limited on a tire selection that gives about 4000 to 6000km max (that's 2500 to 3750 in medieval miles)... it doesn't need a topcase, it needs a tire rack...
A TFD digitizer not working below 10°C (50°F in medieval...) with RF emissions that kills the GPS reception of a Garmin XT mounted above... limiting you to use CarPlay instead...
(got a friend owning that rig...)

Oh yes, those extras add up, but the pricing above is obviously £'s and $'s, not Euro funny money.
But the point I was trying to make...badly...is would Honda be able to sell the bike with all the doo dahs at $20k in the states. Or would it have to be discounted for that market.
There are plenty nearly new in the showrooms although at a fraction of that. It seems to be where most of them are. I would suggest that relates to the fact they're not a good seller and folks aren't keeping them long.

I believe Honda thinks they've got the US sport touring market mostly covered with the Goldwing (ST1800). Thankfully there are options from the other Japanese manufacturers. I've been seriously considering some of them recently (Suzuki GSX-S1000GT+, Ninja 1000SX, Yamaha Tracer 9).

????
Bridgestone, Metzler, Pirelli, Continental, Avon, Dunlop all make tires in 120/17-17 and 180/55-17 size and all should give more than 4-6,000 kms. Unless those sizes are significantly less durable than the ST sizes, I have got more than that out of the first 3 brands and I am not gentle on tires.

At the end of the day, 'Sport Touring' was always bigger across the pond than here, IMHO.
That's why the ST1100 was designed and announced over there and had a lot more optional stuff and colors than the States ever saw.
And why the NT1100 was announced over there and the list goes on.
Across the pond is way more motorcycle oriented than this country - with maybe the exception of Harleys ... ;)

Just to be clear, I wasnt just talking about just sport touring bikes, lots of models of bikes we dont get or get limited colors or features and only 1/2 the warranty that other countries get in a lot of cases. We get 1 year, they get 2 years. Why?

Look closer at the Goldwing models. I have been told by Goldwing riders they can hustle pretty good.
as a former sport bike rider whenever I hear these kinds of statements I have to LOL.

Reminds me of a time many years ago when I was asking someone about the sporting capability of a particular tire he told me how well that brand/model performed on his Harley while pulling a trailer on winding roads.

This is interesting, well I think so. Amongst the plethora of twin cylinder bikes, Honda have only blummin produced a new V jobbie. Don't get excited it's not a V4, but a V3 with an electric compressor.
Not a concept apparently and more should be revealed at EICMA 2024.
I think it's in the frame just to show how it would work on a bike.
As always, we'll wait and see.
