Im leaving boston

Drove the strip. Parked, walked through one casino just to say I did. Then left and never looked back. In reality I do love the place. Why? For entirely selfish reasons. If it wasn't for places like Vegas keeping all them people occupied, some of 'em would be crowding me where I'm at. Glad they stay there. Feel the same way about cruise ships. Keep posting, I'm loving it.

Las Vegas - also known as Lost Wages ....
Everything thats wrong w the world lives there! U should see the wind here. Im pretty much sitting on my gas tank and riding around 40 mph. Its gonna b a long day. I feel especially bad for the guys pulling trailers. But zion, here i come baby!!!!!

Dear vegas, suck an egg. Leaving for zion. Taking the long way. I pulled over to watch the jets take off. Right over my head!
Its windy already and thats that.
If your at north vegas at the race track you could watch the fighter jets from Nellis AFB take off and land right over your head. Sometimes of the time they don't try to reach altitude and just fly low into the desert.1620494600551.png

I did! Boy
Are they loud! Must have aseen 20 of them go. Ok, so there is ONE good thing about vegas!

At Zion, we camped at the national park campground. It is called Watchman Campground. We were glad to take a refreshing swim in the virgin river, flowing near our site. At one place there was a kind of bassin, with 5 feet deep of water. Very nice place.
A little tip, for the shuttles : go early, while most campers still take their breakfast. There will be almost no line-up. But at 8 or 9, it's already the big crowd.
Don't forget, this is one of the most popular NP.

Finally, im in utah, and its wonderful. Rocks of every color and shape! Staying in st george and am around 45 mi from zion. I want to get there a bit early so there are fewer tourists. The other day, for $15 i had a great conversation and bought a butler utah map. Ill be looking at that very soon! I believe utah deserves a few days!
That reataraunt is mormon, so i had a mormon cheeseburger and recieved a free lecture on speeding here. Who me?8F662643-A3FF-4330-A481-C2DE44B5E147.jpeg1279DEC4-9803-4B9D-B992-A22194494435.jpeg

taken from my sons office. You should see what it's like standing near them when they take off.

I think the shuttle down the main canyon is typically sold out in advance online, so if he doesn't already have a ticket then that part of the park may not be an option. I think they have some walk up seats available later in the afternoon though.

edit: here's the story on the shuttle tickets:
  • There are three opportunities to acquire shuttle tickets.
  1. Advanced tickets ($1.00 each) will be released twice a month, on the 16th and the last day of the month. Tickets must be purchased on-line at Recreation.gov.
  2. Additional tickets ($1.00 each) will be released the day before your intended visit at 5:00 p.m. (for example, tickets for March 13, will be released at 5:00 p.m. on March 12). Tickets must be purchased on-line at Recreation.gov.
  3. Afternoon walk-up tickets (no charge) will be available from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Zion Canyon Visitor Center. These tickets are limited and are first come, first served.

I miss the good-old days when you could drive the main canyon road in your vehicle.

I drove something in there, includig the tunnel, last year. I saw the shuttle busses last year, during our countries covid educational period, and thought getting on one of those would b nuts. So, im leaving st george early, grabbing a bite and riding the 45 mi there for a little tour, hopefully.
If u know zion, can u tell me which entrance this is? I think i know, but im not sure. This is where i want to go in. 13D15DFC-B862-4744-B240-E4AFC2155BF8.jpeg

It’s the red, it makes the bike look faster!

Utah hwy 9 goes right through Zion, and there's no special ticket needed just to drive through, other than your NP senior pass to avoid the park entrance fee. The entrance in your picture would be the west side where the town is. The east entrance is in a much less populated area. The shuttle that you need the ticket for takes you into the main part of the park where you can access a lot of the hiking trails, or hike the river. But if you're just riding through for the scenery hwy 9 is the main road, and the one that goes through the tunnel you mentioned.

Many thank yous. Im hopping on rt 9 in or near st george and entering the springsale area. Im pretty sure thats the way i want to go. That will leave me in the opposite direction i took last year and opportunities to see some other parks in the area.
Those butler maps are pretty cool!
