How fast have you had your ST?

I ran my 1100 up to 117 GPS mph out in Nevada in the middle of no where. There were 5 of us that were running about that speed.

My 1100 rev limiter kicks in at about 8500 rpm a little into the red zone. I run up to red line often, not a problem even at 160k miles.

I guess I don't know how fast I have gone. Probably in the 115 range. I hit around 105 about once a week. There are a lot of semis on the road that I ride. When I pass them I drop to 3rd run it out, shift to 4th and as I pass their front bumper I am in the 100 range. Up to 5th and move back into my lane and cut the throttle. That would put me at around 105. This is all on GPS.

My personal land speed record was in a modfied BMW M5 in Germany. I went from Nurnberg to Munich. Most of the trip was in the 265KPH range (165 MPH). In fact I set the cruise at that speed. The car had a lot left in it but I didn't feel like going any faster being it wasn't a closed course. Here in the states I have been to a track a few times in Minnesota and run our Audi. While our A4 isn't that fast (135 MPH Max) I have driven a couple S4 and an RS4 that were pretty darn quick.

56mph, the day after I bought it. never seen it sense, too much gas but stable as a rock.

Disclaimer: I never intended to go this fast...

Talk about a relief! My wife would have killed me for a speeding ticket no matter the circumstance... especially on my commute, she worries enough as it is. Considering this guy could have arrested us both for excessive speed I thought both the car and myself got off very easy.

As a side note the bike was rock solid and I know it had alot more to give as I was incrementing up as that guy in the car kept pushing up on me.....

Sorry for the long post but thought I would share this unique example with the rest of you.

Might even tell the wife about it some day.

Hey man, that was a great story. No need to apologize. We should all be so lucky. Remind me to tell you about the one and only time I was ever handcuffed, after being pulled over for 115 or so on my 94 ST1100A one fine day in East Texas!

115 indicated, today.....gimme a chance, I've only had her for 2 weeks. I rode 150 miles up to the foothills and up HWY 49 (Placerville, Auburn CA) and home. To be honest, I am more sceered in the twisties. Downhill, recommended 20 MPH left turn, guard rail on the right... GULP. I can wind down from going too fast on a straight. But guardrails are a different story:eek:

I need to practice leaning, steering into turns, etc. more. I noticed that I can lean my head into a turn (sort-of over the bars) and that seems to help. I did scrape a foot a couple of times:) .

Well did it again last night.

I KNOW I was in top gear, at 8k rpm it was at 145 on unaltered speedo. Bike wasn't done, caught up with traffic.

I think it will redline top gear at 150-155 indicated.

Don't know. I don't have a GPS! Went through a "speed reminder" last night going out of town. The read out at the side of the road said 30 mph and the ST speedometer read just shy of 35. I quess I'm not going as fast as I thought! How long until those "speed reminder" things take your photo, like in the UK?

I SAW 160MPH ON MINE TODAY!!!

I wasn't going nearly that fast....Just happened to look down and noticed that the speedo maxed out at 160...:

Traffic camera enforcement was recently signed into law in New Jersey. From the little I've read there will be a substantial public awareness campaign before any enforcement is to begin.

I've always been against unmanned enforcement of any kind...this is just another means of raising revenue.

I had one of Wyoming's finest ask me that same question after he wrote me a ticket for 90-something in a 75. Seriously. After giving me a ticket, he wanted to stand at the side of a busy freeway and chat about my trip (I'm from Georgia). I was kind of dumbfounded, but told him a couple of days before I had passed a 55 mph speed limit sign at 110. He chuckled and nodded and said something about cows in the road and then went on his way.

But the fastest I've had it was an indicated 125 on I-85 north past Hartsfield with my friend Leigh on the back.

I hit 140 indicated on my 97 ST 1100 on highway 376 south out of Austin. How could you not? You can literally see 20 miles in each direction, nothing bigger than a tumbleweed as far as the eye can see. My buddies took a 50 mile shorter ride (they cut the corner and met me in Tonopah) and I beat them by about an hour.

Its a crazy feeling moving that fast. Lots of fun.

Tim

its much more fun exceeding the speed limit on a twistie than any straight road. plus you never see a trooper with radar on a 30mph S turn.

If you ever try Deals Gap on a weekend you can see about 11 of them:(
