GA: Tag

Well Hallelujah!! Only took 11 months and a Florida rider to get a tag 25 miles from ATL. I guess all the fearless GA riders are squeamish about riding south of I-20.:D:D
It's now a whole lot farther south than downtown Fayetteville, so show the north GA riders how to do it Florida guys.
Regards,
Terry

not so much a matter of squeamishness as of boredom / time...

I was noticing Fla has 3 tag sections. I wonder what it would take for GA to have a north an south?

fyi: SC and TN tags are currently closer to N GA.

So go get the SC or TN tags if they're closer and more interesting to you :D.......just like the FL rider got the GA tag. The object of the game is to get out and enjoy the ride. I just did a 285 mile ride today from my south side of ATL location to a site not very far from Athens. Weather was perfect today and I'll still make my shift at work tonight. I think there is information in the TAG Forum on state splitting...check it out if you want to take the lead.

Terry

I wouldn?t say that now. It's just it isn?t fun to go down there. Riding in N.Ga is for the thrill of the roads. Not sight seeing. Riding in central/southern Ga is for sight seeing. Not the thrill of the road.

As for splitting. Hmm. Dunno about that.

Trust me, the current GA tag will be coming back north by the BRG if not sooner unless the state gets split.

I have to say, part of why I did it, was to show that sign. I have passed it for years now and ride in South Ga. as much or more that I do in FL. I agree about taking back up north, but would love to play with it here for a while. (Maybe 11 months):D
Any ST riders in SE GA.?

OK, Please don't rub it in. There are only so many Mole hills and septic tanks we can ride over here for a thrill.

No argument from me on the fun factor of N GA roads.....I was born/raised in Rome and have owned property on Blue Ridge Lake since 1971. I spend a lot of time up there, and have ridden more than a few of the good roads in N GA, W NC, and E TN.
Not trying to be an *ss, but the game is Tag...so if you want to play you have to go to the point of the last posting. If it's not fun either don't play, or hold your nose and move it to a point more to your liking. I was only remarking about the lack of interest of GA riders for 11 months in playing the game. I rode up to Toccoa on Monday in a little over 2 hours from Fayetteville and then home again, so I know the road goes both ways. Pretty easy...all you got to do is steer north and twist the right wrist, then head south and repeat.:D:D

Nah...I wouldn't let it linger for eleven months, without an attempt to move it somewhere else, maybe Albany, or Plains -- somewhere really scenic in SW GA with twisties just like in W Texas or even S Florida.:D:D I think there were a couple of ST-Owners in the Savannah area -Willigoat, but not sure if they're still active.

It seems I have rubbed you the wrong way. Don't know how exactly. My posts were not written to offend anyone. I was not complaining of where you put the Tag. I apologize if you have misunderstood my meaning. Text is hard to interpret sometimes because you can't hear the person's attitude. It was all in good fun. No harm meant.

Nobody is saying that you are unfamiliar with any part of GA, or that you have not ridden up here. Don't know why you felt the need to type that.

(Sarcasm)Thank you for reminding me that I do not have to participate in this game, and what the rules are. Here I was thinking it was mandatory.(Sarcasm)

While GA isn't "my state", I enjoy Tag and have done several states and have seen different types of terrain and lots of good and bad tags. What is a fun location/area for one person, isn't for another. When its somewhere you don't care for, move it to somewhere that is interesting for you. That might pick the game up, if others find it interesting; or slow it down if nobody wants to bother riding there. Either way, its all part of the game.

Last year I moved the KY tag the length of the state after it sat for a LONG time (a couple years iirc). Once moved, it moved a few more times that summer, and a few this summer. It just needed that little push to get it moving again. On the other hand, I did that with the NY tag- took it from the east and moved it up by Rochester, where it sat a while because nobody felt like riding up there. Odd, because it was a beautiful area. I moved the NC tag at the beginning of this season after it sat for a while, putting it in a nice spot- not for the ride, but for the location- and it hasn't moved since.

Just go have fun. No matter where the tag is, you have to ride to get there...what is so bad about that? :D

No harm - no foul. I guess I've sufficiently stirred the pot, and now GA folks will get involved in the game. More posts to this thread in the past 48 hours than in the past 2 years. Now all we have to do is get it back from Woodbine -- if the FL riders don't bring it up in October, guess I'll go get it. Been 20+ years since I've been to the GA coast -- might be fun.

A nice rainy morning for a ride. Riding is what Tag is all about, isn't it?

Hey Mr. Dave,
You moved it 9 miles closer to my house from where it was in Woodbine...(LOL). Weather was perfect here in the ATL metro area today, cool & dry. I thought seriously about doing the ride to Woodbine today, but my wife has had vertigo for a couple of weeks and I had to drive her to the grocery store, etc. Maybe later this week to Folkston to watch the trains go by. Good move.
Regards,
Terry

Its going DOOOWWWWNNNNNNN......Well, maybe up.....I havent been to River Street in a long time and this just isnt that far out of the way....

I do miss Savannah!!
A must place to eat is The Pink House ,but down stairs!
Crispy Flounder is my pick.
........what were we talking about?

Way to go FL riders. Love to see it moving. Amazing coincidence-- both Woodbine & Crescent are 276 miles from my house. Folkston was 267 miles. Has anyone eaten at the restaurant in the new tag?? Food good??
Regards,
Terry

I did not. They looked closed at 12noon today. 3.5 stars on one food forum I looked at. But, I have to be picky about seafood rest., shell fish equals ER Room.
Sorry, I thought I was moving it closer to ......... well, Home I guess we'll call it. LOL.

No apology necessary. Just great to see you guys actively keeping the GA TAG in play. I enjoy watching it move and hope to join in the fun soon.
