Clear lenses for the front turninglights ST1100

Someone/everyone will correct me as required but, assuming I’m not to far wrong, the North American models have the three wire sockets and use the 1157 type bulbs. The European bikes have the two wire or 1156 bulb sockets, hence the need to upgrade the sockets.

Now, at my age memory is a very slippery slope...

Aha! So I'll only need bi-color bulbs and a new flasher.

Now we just need clear rear lenses and red/amber bulbs.

My new lenses arrived today. They're beautiful! I had asked Ad about whether he would make rears, but he mentioned the mold costs, etc., which also applied to the fronts. Perhaps if there is enough demand, he will reconsider.

His actual response:

I could do that , but then i need investors.
I still dont make a profit on the front lenses.
Must still sell 400 sets to get my money back.
Them i have 100 sets left for profit and thats not enough to pay for the mould and making the lenses.

I thought that this was a pretty ambitious undertaking to start with. I don't know what his balance sheet looks like but I hope he didn't get hurt too badly.

Dittos. He did a good job. It would be a shame if he didn't come out ahead.

Well, I ordered from Superbright:

Front signal: 1157 Switchback LED Bulb - Dual Function 60 SMD LED Tower - A Type - BAY15D Bulb - Amber White - 2 Pack
Brake/tail: 1157 LED Bulb - Dual Function 27 SMD LED Tower - BAY15D Bulb - Natural White - 2 Pack
Rear signal: 1156 LED Boat and RV Light Bulb - 18 SMD LED Tower - BA15S Retrofit - 325 Lumens - Amber- 2 Pack
LED flasher: Electronic LED Flasher Relays for Motorcycle - Universal Flat Motorcycle Flasher

I went with the white brake/tail because I don't feel like adding license-plate lighting for now.

Let us know how those bulbs work out for you, Larry.

I’m several weeks away from putting them into my ST, now that the weather is cooperating and I’m not fighting the flu. Or doing the brakes on my son in laws car.

First, a complete set of rotors and pads...

What I did for my 1300. You're going to love the LEDs. Really like the clear lens on the front too. Put some pics up when you're finished.

Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum.
I am french from Toulouse. I own a ST1100M from 1991. I am interested in white turn signals. How can I buy them by paypal?

Bienvenue, Sylvano!

Go to the first post, hover over AD Ploeg’s avatar and select “Start Conversation”. He’ll respond pretty quickly, in my experience.

I have LED bulbs and a flasher! I have the clear lenses already, so now I just need to get started.

Please let me know if this is right:

1. Unsnap turn signal pods.
2. Disconnect light connector.
3. Disconnect steel wire tether.
4. Remove light assembly.
5. Remove black foam seal.
6. Heat and separate lenses.
7. Try to remove old sealant.
8. Seal new lenses with caulk.
9. Install new black foam seal.
10. Reinstall light assembly.
11. Reattach steel wire tether.
12. Connect light connector.
13. Snap pods back on bike.

As for the tail/brake light, it seems the best way to illuminate the license plate and use a red 1157 LED bulb would be to lay a rectangular white LED panel face down over the taillight's clear bottom lens.

That’s about the size of it, Larry. My apologies if this has been dealt with before (can’t remember!) but don’t forget the replacement signal flasher.

And post some pictures!

I reused the sealant. Once it was hot, I removed the old lens and immediately placed the new one. The old glue held it just fine. I didn't replace the foam. I can look at the mirrors and determine whether I left the turn signals on.

It is pretty easy to identify the flasher. Turn on the ignition (motor off), right side IIRC, remove the side panel and identify the part that clicks.

I finally did it. I have installed the clear lenses, put LED switchback turn signals and additionally switched from regular H4 to LED as well. I like it very much and thanks a lot to Ad for taking the risk and setting up the lens production.

Here a short video clip of the new setup.
