Can I use a ecu that has the last three digits different then the stock one.

If any of you have been surfing the parts diagrams on RonAyers.com or such, you will now notice that Honda has started requiring you to look up VIN numbers, to look up the proper part for the specific model, year, and bike etc.
The 2003-2007 ST1300 Civilian models all use #38770-MCS-L01 for the ECU
However, in 2005 Honda splits up the ECU's by VIN number and lists #38770-MCS-L01 = SN 5M300015, and 38770-MCS-A31 = SN 5M300016
This may be because it was the first year for the Police model.

So 05 to 07 work with L01 and A31.

Puzzling is why the 03 and 04 that also work with L01 will however not work with that same A31.

Would be great to hear from your @aniwack partner what happens if you fit an A31 on an 03!
