Jackets Best Winter Weather Jacket?

I recently got the Transitions 2 and have been very happy with it. Took it on a week-long trip and was comfortable at 30 degrees. Now I need a good set of electric gloves. . . But the jacket was great.

Tourmaster Transition for me also. I use the Tourmaster electric vest when it is really cold. I have ridden with temps in the teens and stayed warm. Heated grips and seat don't hurt either.

I have a JOE ROCKET endurance jacket , got it on closeout for $ 99.00 ! Nice and warm jacket, and lots of protection also . Black with red Honda wings and logo,s . Most comfortable coat I have ever worn ! Water proof , lots of pockets, and full zip out liner !

Belstaff Dicovery \ Explorer has taken me down to 6 degrees (for 12hrs). No lectrics. Just a long sleeve shirt and sweater underneath.

Legs had a cheap pair of thermals underneath a pair of icon barrier jeans.

I was good. I started to get just a little cold around 6am, but once the sun came up I was warm again.

I have a closet full of winter jackets. (many of them are for sale here)

I don't even consider the Discovery if it's over 25 degrees out. It is a COLD weather jacket. 30-50 degrees I wear either a Rev'IT! Shade, Moto Guzzi Grand Raid, Hein Gericke Paris Dakar (if going out and wanting to look presentable) or my Marsee System One Full Flow jacket with it's external rain liner zipped in and a cheap thermal fieldsheer liner (you can get these cheaply) under it as it's original liner is a chinsy vest liner.

If it fit I'd wear my Rev'IT! Cayenne Pro, unfortunately it's too big on me.

Hmmm...It appears that the Kilimanjaro and Transition 2 are top runners. I'm trying to decide between the two, but have read some conflicting waterproof statements about the Transition 2. In fact, it seems like 50% say it doesn't do the job in the rain and the other 50% say it would keep you dry in an end of days flood. Any additional thoughts that might clear up the conflicting reports?

Come on John, pony up and buy the Gerbing's. Jay and I bet that you would have electric's by Moonshine. We both lost. You better have them by BRG, remember how cold you were and how WARM Jay and I were. Did we till you how warm we were?

I can't speak for the Tourmaster as I've never worn one, but I do have a First Gear Kilimanjaro and really like it.
I also have a Gerbing's heated liner and really love that!!

Just ordered a Kilimanjaro jacket for my wife in day-glo/ silver. It had great reviews. And I see Peppermint likes her's so we will see.

 Ron, I DID have Gerbings by Moonshine 2011.

I like my Transitions 2 a lot and haven't had water concerns with it. Jay talked me into it and I have been happy with my choice. But I also see Jay posted he is getting the Killamanjaro for Pam. So I guess it depends on which brand you like. I've become a strong Tourmaster fan in the past year.

...plus Gerbings ROCK starting in about November. :headbang:

John the only reason is no one has a large Transitions 2 for women right now everyone says in a month or so. So I pulled the tricker on a Killamjaro for her $188.00 shipped.

Gerbing heated clothing is great if you are set up for it.
I have BMG British Motorcycle Gear. It has more than enough pockets, and is rain and wind proof.
The jacket has a very warm very thin zip-out inner liner. Body armor in all the right places and reflective piping.
I bought one for myself and my wife at the international cycle show in Minneapolis, MN last year for $500.00 .
VERY happy with these jackets ! They adjust easily for a great custom fit. The front zipper is double breasted and truly closes up weather proof.
I cannot say enough great things about these jackets!
If it'll keep my wife happy while riding in 40 degree weather, well you get the picture !!

I have a Teknic Stinger jacket, great for winter. I have ridden 400 miles in 36/38 degree F rain and stayed warm and dry.

First Gear Kilimanjaro or Olympia AST are good choices. My older Kili was very warm, water proof but lacked good venting so would be too warm to wear, even with the liner out, when temps got over 55-60 degrees. The AST is supposed to be water proof (haven't had the chance to test it yet) warm, has lots of pockets, and good venting features.

wow she must be cold blooded, I wouldn't take the discovery jacket out in those temps. I don't even think about touching that until it gets to the teens.

+1 on the Olympia AST. Double flap zipper for positive water proof and excellent venting good up to 90 or so. Has a zip out liner for the cooler temps and a high collar for back draft protection. Adequate pockets and their high vis is truly high vis. I found one at the local Honda dealer (Shawnee Honda, Shawnee Okla.) for $245.00.

My Aerostich Darien with liner gets me through most ordinary winter weather here in the Pacific Northwet. When it's extremely cold or when I'm going on a longer trip in horrible weather I'll pull out my trusty Belstaff Discovery (now BMG). It's the most bomb-proof jacket I've ever worn. The Disco is not wearable in warm weather, while the Darien is OK in mild temps. For the hot stuff I switch to my Belstaff Adventure (while SabreWife goes for her mesh gear, something I've never caught on to).

This winter I'll be trying out my new Olympia Phantom one-piece. It hasn't gotten cold enough yet to put the thermal liner into it (temps not below 34 F so far), but I'm looking forward to trying it as it gets colder. I'm happy so far with its performance in driving rain. On all my other bikes the gear has been critically important to comfort. Since getting the ST with its excellent weather protection, it's simply not such an issue anymore.

Oh, btw...I have Multiple Bike Disorder and I'm a bit of a gear wh@re. :D
