'21 BMW R1250RT

I think someone was "Kinda" insecure there. I'm not. BMW is a good bike. Just costs more than I want for parts even if I work on it myself.

I too have ridden with both crowds. Can't you take a little ribbing? Like I said... "WAY different"...

Besides, there is a difference between being built like any other motorcycle and just looking similar in someways to a scooter vs. actually being a scooter. But I'm sure y'all already know that.
And did I mention @Mellow , You picked a real nice bike there. I really like the color. :)
Thanks, always been a blue-fan... lol Definitely not a fan of the price but I needed to see if what all the hype is about...

I was beginning to think I was in the midst of a gaggle of uncouth troglodytes.
Definitely Boone's Farm.
Strawberry.
At 14 years old, I lost my childhood.
(But I still have that Boone's Farm belt buckle.)
Yabutt…. All the cool kids were drinkin Annie green springs………

In 1971, Alabama was still WAY behind, in the cool spectrum. So Boone's Farm it was.
But what do 14-year-old kids know, anyway? I learned I could get my motorcycle license at 14, so I leaped ahead in the cool category.
Kinda like skipping a couple of grades. Kinda.

Congrats Mellow. Absolutely beautiful bike. I think you will find that it will grow on you more over time as you get used to the Teutonic method of doing things - it is a little different.

After buying nothing but Japanese bikes over the course of my life, I found and fell in love with a 2014 BMW K1600 last spring. It does have its downsides and the German engineering makes me scratch my head sometimes in that they tend to over-engineer things, making them a beast to work on. Ultimately though, it doesn't matter what you ride, it just needs to move your soul. For me, there is absolutely nothing that sets me as free that riding does, and it hasn't mattered what brand bike my butt was planted on at the time.

As I was revisited this thread something else came to mind of a stark difference between the HD crowd and the "gentlemen" that ride the sport touring / BMW machine crowd. That difference being I've never seen a half naked women on a "gentlemen's machine. Been to plenty HD events that would make a sailor blush.

Keep in mind we've not yet seen Joe with his new BMW. There's still a chance he'll break through.. :D

Stumbled on this thread since I pretty much ignore everything but events, first things first - congrats on the new ride, you'll love it. :hat4:

My winter screen is the sport trim one; the other one is a much shorter K1300GT sport screen I had laying around. It's so short I put on a clip on extension to make it a perfect for me (no buffeting), rest of the year shield.

How many RTs do you have Tom?

About the same number of BMW's per good, used ST1100s at almost every ST event in the last 10 years.

Only one, traded the 15 in for the 20; but I had have a couple of RS's and the K16B.

Nice looking setup there...

For most people, prior to retirement, no matter how big the garage, the nature of a family abhors empty storage space. It gets filled with worthless junk, toys, and cardboard boxes filled with unused family garbage. ;)

Tom
I fixed that... no family.

edit: .. forgot about the dogs... darn!
