2014 Super Tenere - Gets some upgrades ZE Edition

LOL ... again?! :D

I never wanted to give the S10 up. But, the ST was paid off and the S10 would get enough to pay it off and cover most of the added farkles that weren't removed. In the end it was a wash.

Always liked the bike but the timing was wrong for me and things are better now. The Strom is a great bike and my only issues with it are the small alternator and maybe the ergos are a little 'off'. I've tried a few different things and they've helped but it just doesn't fit me like the Tenere did.

The new changes Yamaha made to the 2014 actually addressed a couple of the very few issues I had with the bike. We'll see, need to sell the Strom first.

There's something to be said for that. Thats what got me transitioned from the ST to the GS. As much as I liked the ST I just couldn't get it quite right and after 10 years it became time to make a change. Keep us posted on if you get another S10.

Your top box is still looking good on my S10, Joe!

BTW, I sat on one at a bike show in January that had the low seat (15mm lower they say)..... what a difference in ergos......... check it out! I'm going for a test ride locally in May.

How come the timing never seems to be right for me? The local dealer has a low mileage 2012 Triumph Tiger 800 for just a little more than my 2007 Harley is worth. I need to get rid of the Harley pronto.

My next bike will be a S10.....just not sure when. I like the features of the 2014. I'm leaning toward the base model and add heated grips (if I can afford the grips.......ouch!). I will probably keep the NC for a while longer.

It sounds like the 2014 models are arriving in the States now? I want to see one up close but I'm afraid to walk into a dealership right now......too tempting.

I doubt you'll see one in a dealership unless it was ordered and awaiting pickup. It's nice you don't have to go through the preorder / wait that the 1st gen S10 had. A lot of the 1st Gens are going at some very nice prices which is very tempting.

Read that the valve check & adjustment is a PITA??? Can it be? any more than the ST1300? Just asking, for those who have done it.

Saw a used 2013 in white.......sat on it......drooled on it........but didn't buy it. Man, I like the S10 in white. They were asking waaaaaay too much for it ($13,299 with 1000 miles). I told the manager that walked up to me as I was sitting on bike that I could get a NEW one from Searcy for $12,600 OTD. Besides, I'm not planning on giving my local dealer a dime of my money. They have to be one of the worst in the nation.

So, the hunt continues, I guess. I still haven't sold the RT so I'm not really in the market yet. And, I'm having a tough time deciding between a 2013 or a 2014. I guess it will depend on how soon the other bikes depart and how the finances are flowing. Heck, at this rate, I might be in the market for a left over 2014 or 2015.

While you are in the neighborhood for FerrySTOC, you might want to check out Abernathy's in Union City, TN. They sell Honda and Yamaha and have the best prices for many miles around. I know Dinkie purchase one or two bikes from them over the years. Like you, I avoid my local dealer - they won't get any more of my money. Abernathy's will get more of my business - I left there feeling like I was treated right and got a bargain on my purchase.

Well, so much for that... LOL..

My local dealer was giving me the runaround so I went a couple hundred miles towards Houston and picked up this one at a better price.

Got it home and started putting some stuff on it...

I have the say the T and S mode are definitely a bigger difference than on my 12.
I still get a little wind noise with the shield in the highest position so probably adding a spoiler.
The seat doesn't seem to be the torture rack that one on the 12 was but not sure if it's an LD seat yet.
Love the display and all the ways you can show what you want.
I've never cared all that much for a cruise control even when I had them on my wings but this one works very well.
Not sure about the mirrors yet, just a strange shape but I think they'll just take some getting used to.
I think I'm going to really like this bike...

Congrats Joe! That's a 2014?

Yes sir, not the ES version, I never really have any issues with suspension so I passed on that... They addressed all the little nit-picky things I had with the 2012, they weren't serious issues, but Yamaha sure seems to address thing and keep the product fresh.

Looks great, Joe. Is that the same blue as your first one? Something looks different. Maybe it's all the matte black/gray around it. Really great looking!

No, it's a darker blue/purple color, very close to the Blue wing I used to have.
