The torque value on the reservoir cover screws is like 2 ft lbs. You could use a 1/8" flat blade screwdriver or the tip of a paring knife and not hurt the screws with that little pressure.Maybe not. I still don't know what I just ordered (I could still use another, new, quality Phillips #2 screwdriver anyway...)
Can somebody please recommend an exact specific model screwdriver that they KNOW is
a JIS size 2, and is correct for most of the screws on my 2007 Honda ST1300?
That said it's important to use JIS standard on fasteners. My #2 came from a local hardware store almost 20 years ago.
Replacing the rubber diaphragm under the cap every few years would go a long way towards not damaging the screws on an old motorcycle. Hard, long-in-use compressed seals and O-rings give the DIY guy little sense of applied torque then when low torque values are called for rut-ro it strips or cracks. The other fastener on an ST that people often break is the threaded cover sealing the final drive drain bolt. Replace that O-ring now and then and respect the 9 ft/lb value.
