The other thing to watch out for is if you are using LEDs in the brakelights, if so you will need to wire in a relay to trigger the brake light circuit for the servo unit
It appears to me, that the ST1100s switches, 'engage (complete the circuit)' when you pull in the levers.
But I could be wrong.
I looked on left side too. Would have to sacrifice the pocket on either side due to size of the servo (no vac).Pat - If you look at the left hand side, you can usually 'squeeze' (with a little persuasion) the vacuum booster inside the vertical stay.
Putting a square peg in a round hole, and the cable won’t reach.Pat - How big is this thing? I thought you were talking about a 'standard' vacuum servo. What about where the 'California' carbon canister goes?
Not always engaged, just always on.I didn't get it. always on engaged CC? Is that safe?
Clutch switch grounds a wire when pulled, brake switch applies +12v to a wire when pulled. One more question, are clutch and brake switches grounded while pressed on? Or we have +12 v if brake or clutch engaged?
so you activated it by pressing speed + or - button? Not always engaged, just always on.
The arrow down button is set/decelerate and the up button is resume/accelerate.so you activated it by pressing speed + or - button?
No, you can install the new MCCruise up at the front as I was the first person in the world (according to them) in install one on a ST1100.The servo on the Rostra measures 5" long, 4"wide and 2 3/4"deep it's a fair sized unit. The Audiovox being a cylinder has a few more options to hide and a longer cable.
I do recall reading where a member installed the Rostra servo on the right side in front of the fairing pocket. I looked at that and there wasn't enough real estate on my bike for it. The new MCCruise is the size of a caulking cartridge but can only fit in the tail section as well.
Pretty sure I pioneered that install. Looks like enough room for a Rostra.I put the Audiovos CCS unit down low, left lower fairing, near the alternator. Ran the cable under the engine, up right side and across by cross member.
That’s the first place I tried, too big and the cable just barely made it to the carbs. I didn’t try hanging it upside down...that might have worked but the wiring would’ve been more exposed to the elements. Still it being a rectangular box the fairing would not fit over top.Pretty sure I pioneered that install. Looks like enough room for a Rostra.

Phil, Rostra works ok on its side. Either side will likely require sacrificing the fairing pocket. Right side makes for a straightforward connection to the carbs, will have to check cable route and length on left side.Pat - I'm just thinking the left side might be easier since you are closer to the carb pulley and the right side has that pesky vacuum cleaner hose that runs to the air cleaner. If you like I'll measure the ABS components that live on the left side (which you don't have) and see how big they are. Can the Rostra 'live' on it's side? I'm thinking where I've got circled on the picture on it's side -
