Terry 'ACL' Hammond (11/19/2010)

Thanks for the great pictures Carole, Jeff & Danny. It has been a sad week. Through the pictures and the posts y'all have made it possible for those of us that couldn't get free to really experience this profound event...........

Just poSTed my album at Picasa. This whole event emphasizes an earlier comment, we have tanscended motocycling and become a real community. It may be "virtual" in the sense of physical meeting, but even there we have come to know, touch, love each other as a real community should. Terry was a major factor in making this happen and will be sorely missed.

I hope our community continues to spread, without prejudice and rancor, with fellowship and love and joy.

Count your blessings. Happy Thanksgiving, Y'all.

Wasn't Terry himself on Sidestandup?

Jody,

Yes, it was awhile back that I interviewed him about the upcoming 2010 "Moonshine" extravaganza--Terry was his usual articulate unassuming self.
There will only be one !!!!!!!!

I imagine that I'll do another SSU segment about Terry/Moonshine sometime close to April next year. The memory WILL live on !!!!!!!!

Thank you all for the photos, I'm wish I could have been there.

I was holding it together pretty well until I saw the signatures on Terry's casket.

That video of the procession riding up to the farm is amazing. Great job getting that all in, George.
I know Terry was happy to have so many guests.

Tim, you did a great job talking about Terry on Tuesday. I really started getting to know Terry when he was preparing for the 4 corners/Alaska trip the first time that he was going to take with you. Terry being his usual selfless person really gave all the praise to you when I was talking to him about the trip.

I wish you well on the trip this year. I'm sure you will be thinking about Terry the whole way...

Hi Tim,

I've been thinking the same thing. I'm thinking stickers/patches. I need to talk to someone who has done that sort of thing. Being that I'm on the "Board of Regents" whatever that is suppose to mean I think the 9 of us can figure it out.

I know there some people on the site that are better at artwork than I am. Maybe Mellow can help us find some people to help with that part.

Curt

PM sent to Curt with contact information for the person that has done the Moonshine stickers and shirts. After thinking about it, Jody probably had that information as well.

Another idea I posted was seeing if for the 2011 calendar if the April picture could be the picture of Terry leaning on his bike in front of the Moonshine store. Just putting it out there. We have 9 very good guys (Moonshine board) representing ideas for Terry/Moonshine here on earth and one up in heaven to point out the road signs for him.

Tim- You got through it just fine, a hard job I am sure. Well done representing our niche of the motorcycle community and Terry to the rest of the motorcycle community.

Thanks for finding that Jody especially since it isn't listed in the program notes. Direct link to the list of programs can be found here. Scroll down to episode 170 and click on the link. The actual interview start at about the 11:30 mark.

You might also want to check out the contents of episode 171, there are a couple of knuckleheads that were interviewed that many of you know also... ;)

Late to this......I'm not near the computer much lately....ACL's colorful personality transcended computers........such a loss
My thoughts to all of Terry's family and friends......:(:(

I think a bunch of folks on this forum have a great deal of Terry in them already. I've never met a friendlier, more helpful and hilarious bunch in my life. I can't explain how I count what are people I barely know as such good friends but I do. I guess the common bond of a motorcycle is stronger than I've given credit. I'm truly thankful for all of my ST friends. You guys are the best.

Amen to that! It's a great group on line that's even better in person.

Re: Terry 'ACL' Remembered

Thanks guys for all the great posts/tributes about my cousin Terry! Obviously "you get it" about what made Terry tick! To know Terry was to Know his Dad. Except his dad had a even drier sense of humor. At his dads funeral one of Terry's sisters commented that, "dad did'nt say much... but when he did you sure wanted to listen... because it was either gonna be terribly funny or very important! That also fits Terry pretty well 'cept Terry would say much more.

It was great to ride in honor of Terry with those of you that made it to the service. I was on the 05 red and black KLR. We were all very blessed to have known him.

A follow-up to Terry's funeral service. I don't normally cry at funerals and have been to a few, family and friends, and was holding up well at Terry's until they played a recording of him singing a hymn at church . . . I had no idea, beautiful voice, clear and sincere - Terry singing about walking with Jesus. That got some tears flowing . . .

After being at the funeral and driving down to Cincinnati for a Thanksgiving with family, I logged on from the hotel and caught up with the ST-Owners threads regarding Terry and my email.

I received one email from a non-riding friend with a URL for a YouTube video of Jane Cutler's 4th audition for Britian's Got Talent. It was sent to me at 10:30am on Tuesday, 23Nov10. She sang "No Regrets" and caught everyone by surprise with her voice and delivery . . . at 80 years of age. After her performance, Simon asked her, "How many years have you wasted to do that?"

As soon as she started singing, I immediately began mentally flashing pictures of times I'd been with Terry, the many pictures displayed in the church of moments throughout his life, his outgoing warmth, smile, good humor and love of life and just know what his answer to the question, "How many years have you wasted . . ." would have been, "Not a day."

Hope everyone is having a good thanksgiving...

Thank you, Carole, Dinkie, Danny and George for the photos and videos. It was heartwarming to see how deeply Terry was loved through the sheer numbers of people who attended, and from so many places. And there were so many more there in spirit...

What a loss this world, his family, and our motorcycling community has endured. I just got home from camp and wasn't aware of Terry's passing until I read an e mail sent to me by Steve. My last visit with Terry was at my home this fall when he finally got to add Michigan to his state map of travels. He was a great friend, and will surely be missed by all. With great sadness. Danny
