Terry 'ACL' Hammond (11/19/2010)

I think a bunch of folks on this forum have a great deal of Terry in them already. I've never met a friendlier, more helpful and hilarious bunch in my life. I can't explain how I count what are people I barely know as such good friends but I do. I guess the common bond of a motorcycle is stronger than I've given credit. I'm truly thankful for all of my ST friends. You guys are the best. Mike

+1,000,000.167! :mcrider: ( each time I ever see another pecentage like this, Mr. Hammond has the patent! )

My prayers this Thanksgiving are going to be quite long this year. Especially for the Hammond family and a few others... :chicken:

As I looked around at all the riders who were able to attend Terry's memorial I also thought about the many who couldn't. One guy in particular I missed seeing there...Coop. Everyone should know that ST-Owners as well as others were very well represented. Terry's two sisters took great interest in our presence. It was funny to hear that they referred to themselves just like Terry did. "The one that likes motorcycles and the one who doesn't" :D

Many days of sobbing ahead still.

I was relatively "fine" through all of this until the picture of the hearse with the corn foredrop and backdrop. Terry represented, not only motorcyclists, but also farmers too.

What am I missing.....there is no "orange thingy".

Look where the monkey on the left is pointing. The orange thingy doesn't work for me but if you just click play it will play yesterday's show.

Our buddies Grizz & Tom Laudermilk had a special segment last night on Side-Stand-Up (SSU) about Terry. Anyone that would like to listen to it can do so by listening to "Past Episodes" Just go to : http://sidestandup.com/default.aspx ----- click on the "Orange Thingy" and pick the November 23rd episode # 294. It's the first segment of the show. There is a technical pause at the beginning so hang-in.
Tim

Tim thank you thank you thank you. You did a fine job. I know from Terry's post about missing the ride with you last year, you are one of his all time heros.

Nothing there, not even a hidden link. Tried clicking everywhere. I'll try from another computer later when I get home.

Look for something that looks like this half-way down the page. It's the little orange thing in the upper right hand corner of the blue background. Kind of looks like a speaker icon. Or you can just choose episode 294 in the drop down menu and hit the play button.

Tim Yow, that was great! Terry is posthumously proud, I'm sure!

I was so moved by Terry's recording during the ceremony, not only the singing but the story that he told right before he started that I asked the minister if I could get a copy of it. It was vintage Terry. Unfortunately, the minister wasn't sure how the recording was made but made some suggestions for me. I'll fill you in if I'm successful.

Even though I always heard that he had a good voice I never heard Terry sing until I attended a Packers game with him earlier this fall. It wasn't Take me out to the Ballgame either. When he was finished, someone sitting a few seats to his left said that they should have had him singing the anthem... I agreed.

I also heard many sobs from people when they played John Mellencamp's Small Town during the service. George, the minister mispoke when she said the Terry had recorded that pop song that you mentioned... it was actually a recording of REO Speedwagen's Live Every Moment. Many of you will recognize parts of the lyrics... [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GH51lkwO7gc"]Live Every Moment

Lastly, I have to mention that I was really honored when the family asked us to write a message on Terrys casket when we were out at the Farm. They had a can full of Sharpie pens and we all surrounded the casket and wrote our last farewells.

I think that is how a lot of us here feel!!

Womantriker and I just got home. As we were walking to the bagage claim we got behind a little boy in a tye died shirt that read "Keep Austin Weird". Is that a "welcome home, I'm done being the border collie" from ACL???!!!

To all of you that put so much work into this; the poem, photos, radio, etc.; the patches, stickes and ll the other ideas. Thank You! This is all so fitting for such a great man. Count me in on any stickers, patches, etc. I will proudly carry his name on my bike. I will happily donate money to his family.

I am moved beyond words at the outpouring of support to the family and community that lost Terry.

There will be Moonshine 2011.
The emoticons just don't work for what I am feeling. Such a mix of sad and joy.

I just listened , Tim, you did good, I know it was tough tho, I myself could not hold the tears back. I do wish to hear the recording of him singing someday tho.

Just couldn't get myself to post until today. Dink, your pictures made me cry.....Tim, your tribute show was wonderful!
I, too, became tongue-tied when I tried to speak to Cindy (and for those of you who know me, that in itself tells you where I am right now.) But I got to say to her what I felt summed up what I was feeling...I thanked her for sharing Terry with us.

I am glad our pictures brought Terry's Celebration of Life to those of you who could not be there. Your presence was felt through all your prayers, postings, and love for the family.

Thank you for the pictures Danny.

I am filled with such a feeling of loss. It speaks to the power of the enormous life force of Terry Hammond that I shall miss the presence of one whom I had never met in the conventional sense of the word.

I feel sure Terry will be joyfully watching you as you continue your journey in his honor.

Peace

Abby
