All joking aside, I do ride two up with my wife and while I will not break down the rider to pillion difference I can tell you that together we weigh about 435 pounds and I have a top box mounted and typically have about 20 lbs in the left saddlebag.
I have the shock preload maxed out all the time and I have never had a handling or manuvering problem 2 up on the ST. This includes riding with a full tank of fuel. While both of us could weigh less, we have no problems enjoying the performance and comfort of the ST-1300 right now.
I run the OEM Bridgestone 020's and have been very happy with the mileage and performance. My first set went 10,000 rear and 12,000 front. I only changed the front when I did because at the time I had a 5500 mile trip planned and did not want to do a change while traveling.
