Westward Ho's

Our last night in COlorado will be spent in Frisco, just west of the Tunnel and Denver. We took 550 North ot 50 East and then 285 north at Poncha SPrings. Stopped at a couple of bike delaerships looking for new tiers as ours were shot. No luck. Have to look elsewehere.

The roads were surprisingly good. Little to no traffic and sweepers galore. Too bad the wind was at 45 mph and blowing cold air - would have been great other than that....

We stay in Frisco tonight. After a long day of riding, we elect for pizza to be delivered to the hotel bar. We appear to be the only guests in the hotel and pretty much have the. run of the place

Inspecting the bikes, we decide that we can't leave Denver without tires. My wear bars on the rear are no longer showing and the front tire has no edges left on it. The center isn't all that bad, but the sides are shagged.

Brian's aren't quite as bad, but not good enough to get him home either. So we'll need two sets of rubber.

I had heard fo Fay Myer's Honda before and it appeared to be the biggest place in the area, so we head there in the morning. I had posted that I;d be there at 9:00 AM and we got there around 9:15.

Keith (Freddie on the Forum) met us there and had already found out that they had tires for us in stock. Excellent work, Keith - thanks!!! Brian and I handed over our bikes to the service writer for the work to begin.

Keith, Brian and Joe hanging out in the lot...

I went inside to look at some of the bikes. I want a new Ducati 1098 to replace my 996, and a KTM 990 Adventure, and a new ST1300 and a MV Augsuta and a ....

Unlike us, Keith has a real job and had to split. As much fun as it must be to hang out with us at a dealership waiting on tires, he had had his fill.

See ya, Keith. Nice meetin' ya. Thanks for your help!

Brian's bike was done first and it would be another hour or more before mine was done. Rather than sit there and be bored, Brian and Joe split for Kansas City. I was to catch up along the way...

I passed Brian someplace in Kansas and only caught up to Joe at the hotel in Indepence, Missouri. It was 10:00 PM and I was hungry.

Quick trip to Hooter's (hey, it was the closest restaurant) and my belly was full. No pics from here, dunno why it never occured to me to tke the camera in with me. Sorry about that.

The next day and I was home. My a$$ was sore and I as tired. But I took a shot of the GPS as I got home.

5,783 miles. Not bad for a few days ride. Crappy driving average, but we stopped a lot for pictures, etc.

Hope you liked the rant and pics - now get out there and ride!!!

Darn it! Im my back yard and I had no idea! Are you still here?

No, we got home yesterday (Friday). Got to KC late and left early the next day. Was only there for about 8 hours and had to sleep for some of that.

Next time, though!

Nice thread Eric. Sounds like ya'll had a great trip. Appreciate the posts from the road. ALMOST like being there.

We really did have a lot of fun - with the exception of the Wyoming State Trooper.

The laptop I take on the road is an old one and it packed it in when I loaded too many 1.50 MB picture files on it. Need to clean it up so I can use it on the next trip. I took about 650 pictures - most were kinda crappy. Posted most of the general interest ones on the thread.

Bumping this to the top for an excellent travelogue.
Thanks again Eric.
