Wednesday October 16th Café.

Good coffee, and thanks Ray. Maybe we could consider enrolling Nick into a remedial coffee- brewing class. And i have to wonder, if Nick is using the tractor, why does his back hurt? Is he pushing the tractor? I would use the engine on the tractor to do the heavy lifting, not my back.

It's a ridiculous 40 here this morning, riding slightly to a measley 62. Pfffttt. I hit Snooze for 45 minutes so as not to get out of my warm bed... I don't have any plans for skiing or snowmobiling, this is lunacy!

But the moon last night was awfully pretty to look at, until the clouds wandered into my sky. They've disappeared now. But a big dead limb crashed down out of some tree last night while I was outside, it missed the roof and the deck, but looking up this morning i can't figure which tree it fell from.

With all this wood, I'll be burning lots of fires in the fireplace this season. At 39 for a low tonight, it might start sooner than I'd thought.

Note to self: put that new clutch in the damn saw!

No musical mysteries (I was misled!) today, so I better get myself to the office.

Glad you're feeling better, Pats. And I'm sorry I couldn't find any brown water for ya last night @Nashcat .

Out of nowhere, here's a thought from the late great comedienne Gilda Radner, gone too soon from that b!tch cancer at 40yo:

Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it.
~~ Gilda Radner

Gene Wilder and I miss you.
At least you woke up with wood. That's a good sign.

Thanks for the coffee, Ray. You almost described me to a "T".

Another lovely day unfolding outside. Sunny, skies of blue, a light breeze. Money from a botched armored truck robbery blowing through the yard. I wish.

Last night was hell. Full moon, I believe. I had a splitting headache and couldn't get to sleep. 5mg of Melatonin finally put me down around 2 AM.

No jury duty today! It got cancelled. Prayers answered. I wish all the criminals would just stay in D.C.

I've been binge-watching Forensic Files. Apparently, lots of killers never get the memo about life insurance and motive. Some of the terms like "blunt force trauma" and "blood spatter" would make good band names, I think.

I hear my database calling. Back to work.

Now you're taking music back to the 70s, and i can play this one...

A not- so- well- known band called Bloodrock? Their first and only radio tune (to my recollection) was "DOA".

First line in the song... "We were flying low and hit something in the air."

The lyrics were remarkably gory, and it was more of a novelty song, if that makes sense. I had the album, but don't remember much else about it. They never were popular, which is a good thing. Even Black Sabbath, which i did not dig, didn't have lyrics as awful as that DOA song.

Morning all! Beautiful sunny day here after rain over night. Currently 10C, as it was for the ride in, with a predicted high of 14C.

The drywaller continues to work his magic in the house. Looks like he might be down to the final coat of mud. The house is taking shape now with all the drywall up, we can visualize what it will look like. Can furniture buying be far behind? One hopes so but one's spouse is an overachiever...

Hope everyone has a great day and avoids the sofa king awful shopping!

Good afternoon or evening to everyone east of the Mississippi, except those in the Central time zone, good morning to the rest of you including those on Central time.

It's wet in Tuscany, and about 65°F.

We went here today:

and also to the places where Galileo, Michelangelo, Rossini, Macchiavelli, several Medicis, and other famous Italians are buried.

Tomorrow we move on to Rome, which apparently wasn't built in a day. Who knew?

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them.

I don't believe I ever heard that one.

I do remember playing Alice Cooper's Killer album all the time. Not the most uplifting music and I've distanced myself from it, but I do still have the album and every other album I had in the '70's.

LOL

Yeah I did too, but probably using a different method to yours.

The tower is actually slightly banana shaped. Seems they realized, about after the third or fourth tier had been constructed, that they had a problem. Construction was halted for many years and then resumed, with each new layer taller but lighter on the down-leaning side and shorter and heavier on the opposite side.

Il Duce tried to correct or at least stabilize the problem but only made matters worse. It was leaning an additional 1 mm/year and threatened to topple or collapse if nothing was done.

Finally, around 1990, a combination of 600 tons of lead "ballast" and removal (by pumping) of soil under the uphill side brought the Tower about 40 cm back toward vertical- enough that it has been declared "stable" although there's still a limit of 50 people at a time permitted to be in the thing.
