Gloves Waterproofing leather gloves?

I've got both the Aerostich ones and these (both have been severely tested! ;-) ), and the Rain-Offs work better for me. They even fit over my Gerbing heated gloves.

UnclePhil, why do you like the Rain-Offs better?

I can now choose between Aerostich and Rain-Off, but I don't know which to pick.

DENNIS - Several reasons -

1. I could get them in a larger size than the Aerostichs (I have the largest Aerostichs they make) so they would fit over my Gerbing heated gloves without an epic struggle (I have large hands).

2. They have the pointing finger by itself and the other three fingers grouped instead of 2 and 2, which means you can actually push buttons/turn switches with your pointing finger. With the Aerostichs, I might as well have clubs instead of fingers.

3. They are completely waterproof whereas my Stichs have a tendency to leak eventually if you ride in the rain for really long periods of time. And I have treated the Stichs with Techtron to help.

4. It maybe the material, but I find the Rain-Offs easier to tuck inside the sleeves of my First gear Rain Man jacket than the Aerostichs. With either product, if you don't to that, you will eventually get rain running inside the liners in heavy downpours/long periods of rain.

That's my experience of using both products over many miles and in many types of wet weather in various temps. YEMV. Hope that helps.

It sure does help.

My current rain covers are mitten-shaped (1 thumb, 4 fingers) that have ripped at the base of the thumb, because the thumb length did not increase enough with the glove size. I have long fingers (just over 8.75" from fingertip to base of palm), so glove fit is often a problem.

I don't like how the stiff material of my current covers stick out from my fingertips. It catches the brake lever each time I stretch my fingers out from inbetween the handlebar and the brake lever. I am looking for a better fitting glove.

On the one hand, the Rain-Offs look a bit baggy and shapeless compared to the Aerostichs, which does not bode well for the "better fitting" part. On the other hand, you said that the Rain-Offs fit bigger than the Aerostichs, which increase the chance they will be big enough. On the third hand  I wear Held Steve gloves, which aren't as bulky as Gerbing heated gloves. It is a 3-handed issue, you see? :nuts1:

Mmmyeah, leaking Aerostich rain covers, that's not good.
Tucking the gauntlets easily for day-long rain is also an asset, especially if I want to attend a NNESTOC. :D
I also like the fact that the Rain-Off gloves really block the wind and keep your hands warm. Not sayin' that the Stichs don't do that, they just forgot to make the claim.

Yeah, I'll give the Rain-Offers a try. If I don't like them, I will completely ignore your "YEMV" and blame you, Phil.

If you follow AS instructions, success will be yours. and, AS will always accept returns if you are not pleased. only my .02 willy

Above 55F I have a pair of Lee Parks Deer Tours that I just let get wet and they dry in a few hours when you ride out of the rain. I have a pair of Cabela's Gore-Tex winterf gloves for cooler weather.

Not sue I would want some of the chemicals on my hands, especially for any duration.

Rain Offs are the way to go although I have seen some Held waterproof gloves and the guys that had them said they stayed dry. Helds about $115 Rain Offs I think were $27.
