Users Of Olympia Airglide

If the gear has the features and quality you want, why not just exchange them for the correct size?
It appears that they don't carry them in 'Baby Water Buffalo' size that I can find. If their 3XXXL was so much smaller than what I am used to, I'm sure the 4XXXL would not be large enough. And the trousers 'top out' at 44 and the way they size I would probably need a 50 at least though I wear a 44 trousers. Also l didn't like the idea that the trousers liner has no leg zippers which means a battle very time you want to get them on and off with the liners in. So the hunt is still on ….

You must have a different version of Olympia pants than I do. My liner unzips all the way to the waist.

Maybe you can change your User Name from "Uncle Phil" to "Little Phil"? :D

Anybody have any experience with Tourmaster Gear? I'm now looking at Venture 2.0 Air Jacket and the Sonora Air trousers.
All input on Tourmaster Gear would be appreciated.

Hey Phil. I have the Tourmaster Transition 4 jacket (hi-vis) and Caliber 1 pants (black). Both the jacket and pants are waterproof, to a point... for long heavy rain rides, I throw on my rainsuit. Both have zip out thermal liners. The jacket has lots of pockets, vents and a nice kangaroo pouch in the back. It also has a detachable neck cuff. I really like them both, but only wear them during the "cold" 6 months out of the year, i.e. less than 80°. And, I add my electrics when it gets below 50° or so, depending on length of ride.

I've had them for about 2 years, wash them 2x/year and they've both worn very well. The zipper failed on the front of the pants and TM will fix/replace for $70. I just use the velcro to hold it closed until I can ship them off to be repaired. All the other zippers work just fine. My only real complaint is the velcro closures at the neck and sleeve ends are starting to not hold. Maybe they can fix those too. It looks like the new Transition 5 jacket has less hi-vis than mine, especially on the front, which is good because my yellow front reflects off my GPS.

Bottom line is I think TM is a great value for the $$ compared to the high end stuff, pretty much like a Honda. ;) I bought the jacket and pants for $380, with 20% off at a motorcycle show.

Probably a different 'version' from what they sent me. The trousers did unzip almost to the waist. But the liner did not - which is a real pain in the anatomy if you want to get them off without pulling your boots off.

Paul - Thanks for the input. I'm looking at their mesh offerings with liners - which gives me the flexibility on the road to adapt to conditions. I wish Firstgear hadn't stopped making the stuff I have - it is great.

Price does not always indicate how stuff will work in the 'real' world. And this stuff only has to 'work' well once - and we all hope that 'once' never occurs!

Understood UP. I went with waterproof textile since it works for me at least 6 months out of the year, and most of the time I can skip the rain suit. I've got Tourmaster mesh over-pants and a Bilt mesh jacket for the other 6 months.

I only have the one Bilt mesh jacket. It's OK but not a lot of padding/armor. Pretty good for $99 (on sale) though... I bought it on a whim because I needed something for a summer trip and my old 2nd hand Olympia mesh was having armor issues. I'd like to upgrade to a TM mesh jacket. My brother has the Bilt waterproof touring jacket and it's actually quite nice... it's got all the farkles and seems to be quite well made. At $139 right now, it's a heckuva deal.

Not sure why the links don't work, but try these...

Don't have particular info on the models you listed but have been riding in a Tourmaster Flex suit since 2011 and other than fading it has held up very well. One thing I like about Tourmaster is the offering of tall sizes in their jackets and pants. Have had a couple of zipper pulls give out on me but I have had zipper pulls give out on everything I have ever owned that had a zipper so no big deal.
I really like the Flex series because it is mesh jacket and pants that has a zip on shell for the jacket and zip on liners that zip on the OUTSIDE of the pants. It works perfect for those days like you mentioned earlier when its cool in the am and 100+ in the afternoon. Just stop for five minutes and remove the jacket shell and pant panels and you are at mesh that flows well.
Alas they do not make that series anymore and do not have anything that replaces it.

I am looking at the Olympia Airglide because you can slip on the over pant and jacket liners that would work similar to the Tourmaster Flex. I have had this Tourmaster suit for awhile and a Cortech (same folks) jacket that hangs in the closet after getting the Flex. Also had a 3/4 Tourmaster something jacket that I gave to my son. Don't believe the waterproof BS they claim. Or anyone else for that matter.

FYI. The folks at Motorcyclegear.com told me they will be carrying the full line of Held clothing soon. They have some interesting looking gear but their website is not very good at descriptions. If their pants and jackets are anything like their gloves then I may be in for something in their line. Have the Held Steve gloves and just love them. Took a little break in time but will never own anything else. Perfect to me.
