Tuesday November 12th Café.

Oh well.... late again... now that the outfit has drive and is running again, thought I'd do an oil and filter change. Easy eh! Definitely needed and new air filter and fuel filter. They were done whilst the oil was draining. Time to replace the oil drain bolt...... hmmmmm I had a new bolt and washer, using my trusty torque wrench.... seems to keep on turning for a long time... try my backup torque wrench... same result.... methinks something is awry here... Now, given that I have hardly ever changed my own oil, suspect someone before me has been a bit hamfisted. So, bolt back in but tightened up with a hand wrench to my comfort point. Oil refilled, engine run and no oil seep. However, I still suspect a stripped thread. Onto Ebay and a replacement oil pan on it's way.

So, as regular readers will have surmised, I hate mechanicing. Is replaceing the sump as straighforward as it would appear? Remove, fit replacement pan with new gasket... is that it, or am I missing anything?

Morning all! Grey, wet and 8C here. 9C now with some sun and 11C to come.

It was a bit chilly on the ride in to work but the roads were surprisingly, and pleasantly, pretty much dry the whole way. Some real excitement on tap for the day; meeting this afternoon with the contractor re drawer and cupboard door hardware. The waft of adrenaline surging fills the air......

Nick/Dave, may your recoveries be easy and short.

Hope everyone has a great day and gets a handle on things!

With a new washer they can seem to turn more than you think they would. When you've got the new pan in your grubby mitts I'd try and torque it up. You never know. Although you may damage the new sump plug of course.
If you can see all the bolts I can see no reason why it should be difficult. A smack with a hide mallet or similar should release it. Don't be tempted to put anything in the gap like a screwdriver.
I don't know if the service manual recommends sealant too or just the gasket.
Good luck, at least it's November.

Just read this. Cannot say I was aghast with surprise.

The turbulent, and some would say non-existent, EV motorcycle market has claimed another victim in 2024, as Eric Buell’s Fuell brand calls it a day.

Barely out of its infancy, Fuell was formed in 2019, when the world of EVs, both two and four-wheeled, was a slightly easier sell. Fast forward just five years though, and persuading a consumer to take the battery-powered route over a traditional ICE machine will have you being laughed out of the dealership.

Ahhh, working on cup #3 this afternoon to ensure a murder-less day. Thank you for the Joe! A good ride into the office today finally after the bike being apart for two weeks (see previous day's installment), and noone tried to kill me this morning in their cage. Let's hope the same holds true for the commute home. Not much else to report from SoMD. Y'all take care!

If it's the 1100, I think the exhaust pipes prevent dropping it. I could be wrong as I've never done it and can't recall how deep the pan is from when I last had the lower fairing off.

Morning Ray & All from a WHITE, Southern Utah!

Yep, snowing once again! :cautious: Currently it is 33F, with little white things falling from the sky and hoping we'll see 48F, with all that white, GONE! No breeze now, butlater, we could see the winds from the NNE @ 8 to 18mph.

Nick, sprains are no fun. take it easy and let it heal before you push it too much.

Dave, hope things clear up soon for you!

With this snow, I doubt if I'll be doing much outside. I think I'll pull out my electrical stuff so I can see what I have for the tractor shed.

Speaking of that:

I knew it would be a tight fit, but it fits, no problem! :hat3: I was worried about the roll bar being too high, but it cleared just fine.

Now to hook up the power, so I don't loose my battery to the cold!

Chris is making us boiled eggs, with that we'll have some home made biscuits and I'll probably have a Pepsi (still out of OJ).

Anyone :wht13: , have a great day on the roads! :hat3:

What a beautiful sight!!!
