Hi y'all, it's the Obo dude here, . Got some gnarly French Roast on for all you cats that need to be diggin' it.

Weather? Here it's a coool -9C and still dark, headed upwards to only -5C. Gonna snow later on, but hey man, that's cool. I mean snow is just frozen rain, and rain is just the odd drop of water between rays of sunshine right? It's like it's basically a sunny day dudes & dudettes.

Anywho, hope you all have a most excellent day and enjoy your sunshine, be it powdery, fluffy or bright!

Obo.

It's bright and coffee filled. Ta me duck.
Just back from Berwick-upon-the-Tweed having stocked up on bird supplies whilst Er'Indoors did er stuff.
The sea was a bit rough and the feels like of 23 was a bit brrrrrrrr'ish but we survived. Actual temps should be 27 to 38, pffffffftttttt. The snow is confined to 1500ft plus. Best place for it unless you live at 1501ft above sea level. And what if the sea isn't level?
The heated steering wheel is a delight on the cold mornings, not too hot, just right. I'm blessed.
I need to dig out my Oxford textile pants and put em on ebay. I dont like em so they might as well adorn someone else's legs.
Av a gud un and remember, take stock.
Upt.

Morning, 3 am full bladder again. Dry mouth from sleeping with mouth open. Foggy all yesterday, still foggy now, and dark. Accomplished fixing cord on a vintage lamp (looks like a small Light house). New lamp in the shower stall as well. Two things on the agenda Garbage day and bring water, dog food and cat litter in from the car. But first back to bed, sleep, Good day Eh

Good morning all, and thanks for the coffee, Obo, although ya coulda kept the white stuff to yourselves.

It seems we're in the throes of a "reverse storm track" that is moving east to west, rather than the usual west to east. It's snowing now, and it won't stop snowing until Thursday night. First major snow accumulation of the year. My skiing/snowshoeing buddies will be happy. Glad I don't have to commute in it.
Today's temperatures will only move upwards from the current -9°C/16°F by a degree or so. Same for the windchill, which is currently -18°C/0°F.

Everyone have a great day, stay safe and go safely. Go build a snowman.

Patty

Good morning everyone

Thanks for the gah-roooooooovy coffee start, @Obo. Makes me want to dig into my closet, find a paisley-patterned tie, and wear it as a headband. In solidarity, and even before I knew what the coffee thread theme-o'-the-day was, I wore my sandals while I brought in the paper. First time I can recall having worn sandals while operating a snow shovel.

It's a very chilly, nay COLD even, 19°F that somehow feels like -5 thanks to a 12 mph WNW wind. Brrrrrr. The "high" ("not quite as low") might, maybe, be 30 under sunny skies but the wind will rise to 16 or 17 mph so it'll still feel d*mn cold.

I'll make a final cleanup pass through the court today to shift the last inch of light powdery white s**t snow that came down yesterday before the cloud moved on and dumped on someone else. Probably won't bother with power equipment, just me and my trusty (but HEAVY) pusher-style shovel. Then I'll come back inside, collapse, and tell myself there's no need to go to the gym today.

But first, if I can get my hands warm, you guessed it: uke practice. I mostly missed yesterday so need to put in the time today.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love then, y' dig?

Mornin all and Thanks for French roast Obo. I could use a gnarly cup this morning. The kind where you sift the grounds out with you teeth! I was up earlier, looked and didn't see a pot started and went off to do other things, lost track of time.

Sunny and cool in central Florida 35-55 for the daily highs and lows. Not sure what's wrong with me wanting to escape this weather and get back to the frozen tundra? Off to see the Ortho Dr this morning see if he can continue to fix my old shoulder. Great young Dr has that rare understanding of what's practical vs what the insurance co and textbooks recommend.

Patty no material to build a snowman here. Would you settle for a sand castle?

Hope everyone has a wonderful day. Remember be careful out there.

Good morning, everyone. Thanks for the start @Obo. It may take several cups to get me moving.

Went to bed so early (7:30) that the neighbor sent a text, asking if everything was all right, since my lights were off. Then she sent another, asking if I needed anything, like meals and such. It didn’t take long to to answer that one, because I’m not fond of vegan, gluten free, no-salt, organic, no nuts zucchini bread with sunflower butter.

I was enjoying the early start sleeping until 11:00, when I was awoken by knee and hip pains. Tossed and turned for an hour before they went away as quickly as they started.

25/34 and breezy. Friday brings “significant” or “shovelable” snow, according to which channel you’re watching.

Good morning, and thanks for the coffee start, Obo.
Much appreciated, as our hotel is doing a reno that includes the breakfast area, and I can't get my "Get Started" cup.
I'm glad I have my own temporary kitchen in our spare room.

It's 14f and sunny in MA this morning, rising to 24, later.
Wind will be 20-30mph, so it'll appear colder.
We won't see snow until Saturday, according to the weather folks.

The painter was working in the kitchen and bath, yesterday, and it's looking good in there.
I arrived this morning to the contractor's assistant setting up to install the subway tile backsplash.

Today, I'm planning a trip to the local ski area, for my first runs of the season. Given the temperature and wind, I may be home early..
Today is also First Tuesday, so I'll meet with some former coworkers to catch up on our lives after Bose.
I might stop by my friend's restaurant to fix his water leak. I checked on my way to the hotel, last night, and it appears that a hose needs tightening. There's got to be a rule about not touching plumbing when Home Depot is closed.

Enjoy the day, and stay warm,
Steve

Good morning all!
Thanks Dude for the cool start!
While I’m at it Obo (Et Al) please quit with the cold air you lot are sending south! It’s getting far too close to freezing, it’s warmth we’re wanting!
Miss Judy will only go along with so much cuddling most mornings!

Currently 50/61F with a cruel NNW (7/17) that’ll make a bloke all goose-bumpy, cause much whimpering and will really mess up the customary happy hour this afternoon!

Enjoy the snuggling weather! Pfffft!

You need one of these....

Why yes, yes I do.

YAWN, Grumble ..... morning all!
I didn't crawl under the covers until after midnight so I am finally emerging. I assume any coffee left in the pot has thickened to cafinated sludge, which is fine by me. I find random late morning pots can be an "adventure" (to pay homage to another thread) in the culinary experience.

12F here this morning, possibly hitting 18F under cloudy skies before heading back down to 10F or below.

Sometime in the early morning hours I heard/felt a small "thud". I suspect that it was a slight shift in the geology somewhere nearby. This area is far more active than most people are aware.

Hey Keith (@ibike2havefun ), up here when there is an inch or so of the fluffy white stuff I use my leaf blower. Much less work to clear a larger area.

Not sure what the rest of the day will bring, but it will likely be inside as the wind whistling around the eves sounds ominous (and cold).

Be safe, be careful and hug those that need it.

Scott

Good morning,6:30 am much better time to get out of bed. Scrambled eggs for breakfast, might and to that, when I figure out what. Still dark and foggy, phone says 30 F dang that's freezing right? High 42 F some time this afternoon. Light breeze at 4 mph , last 92% humidtiy. Guess I will be wearing my flannel lined Jeans today, I bought them at Bass Pro/Cabela's for $18.77 , great value and only store that has my size.
Well time to start on today's agenda. Cheers,oh yeah thanks for the coffee Obo.

Morning all! Dark, overcast-ish and chilly this morning with 4C. 6C for a high and maybe some sun later.

Decided it was time to get back on the bicycle to help rehab the knee and build leg strength yesterday so ordered myself a pair of bike shorts on Amazon. They were supposed to arrive Thursday but my wife asked me to add a last minute item which has shifted the arrival date back to Sunday. Ah well, it will give me time to clean off the bicycle and make sure it's in good working order before unleashing havoc on the trails and roads around our house.

On the good news shipping side, a pair of glove covers I purchased from Aerostitch and the new tires for the ST both announced that they had shipped and were enroute which means getting back to the bike for the commute in the near future. Havoc unleashed indeed....muah....cough.....cough......

Hope everyone has a great day!

You need one of these....
You know if you just spray the gasoline on the snow and light it, that'll do too.

Needed the Joe today after yesterday's workout. 25°F when I woke up. Main roads are a Mish-mash...some are good and some are terrible. I think in the three years since the last snow they forgot what to do. Ah, Maryland...

Another WFH day for me as govts and schools are closed again (pussies). Collected the wife from her overnight shift and hit the Dunkin' for brekkie. Take care y'all!

Hey Keith (@ibike2havefun ), up here when there is an inch or so of the fluffy white stuff I use my leaf blower. Much less work to clear a larger area.

I've done that here as well. It wasn't clear to me then, when I still had my 2-cycle Husqvarna blower, whether it actually moved the snow or just melted and evaporated it. Maybe a bit of each. Today's residual, however, was a bit much for that approach and besides, I've gone electric and have no idea whether the new unit would even begin to touch the stuff. It certainly wouldn't have been any match for the heavy plow sludge that the City so kindly placed at the end of every driveway when they did their most recent clearance.

As I was partway through hand-clearing the neighbor's driveway the neighbor on the other side of me emerged with his snow blower (a lighter-duty single stage model, but great for cleanup work) and shooed me away. We tag-teamed the rest of the sidewalks and driveways in the court, just as we did yesterday, and I eventually did fire up the TroyBilt to deal with the aforementioned plow residuum. We also excavated the incapacitated neighbor's vehicle, which he had parked up the street instead of directly in front of his house (on the "bulb" of the cul-de-sac as per City snow emergency regulations. Needless to say, the plows had built a near-impenetrable berm around it, which needed to be cleared before it froze into a solid wall of ice.

While I’m at it Obo (Et Al) please quit with the cold air you lot are sending south!

Are you sure you didn't accidentally pack some and bring it with you when you migrated south?

Hey Keith
I was “very very careful” to make sure we were leaving all the nasty cold excrement north of the 49th. We even spent a night just north of the border crossing where we checked again, in case there was any stowaways we missed!
